We visited Shaftsbury on a very cold but dry and sunny Jan Monday morning specifically to check out Gold Hill to see for ourselves this famous location for the 1970's Hovis advert. It didn't disappoint, great photo opportunity. Its quite quirky how you access the top of the hill via the narrow passage to the side of the church or another passage nearby. Shaftsbury itself was a lovely walk about. Theres a lovely walk with great views from the terrace at the top of the town by Gold Hill. We ended up parking on the main Tesco carpark as it gives 2 hours free and was only about 10 mins walk away from Gold Hill (if that) and i think the spaces were larger than some of the other car parks...
Read moreIt’s what you’d expect to be honest!! Looks as good now as it always has (see what I did there..?! ;-) I was working nearby and thought I should go and have a look, be rude not to really! It must annoy the people who live in the houses but then I guess they know what they signed up to. Lovely views in the distance over the top of the cottage roofs, you can see for miles a s miles. As you’re stood at the top looking down there is actually a coffee shop behind you with benches outside so you can admire the view whilst sipping a brew. There’s also a Gold Hill museum there, sadly closed when I was there so I’m unable to...
