The lady receptionist who greated us was lovely unfortunately we only saw her f9r a short time. And one other lady who we saw one evening and one breakfast was brilliant this is why it's a 2 star other wise it'd be hard to score any as all other staff were rude arrogant and just made you feel like an inconvenience too them. Rooms were of a good size however the overall cleanliness was absolutely filthy. Dusty, bedding dirty on arrival. Pool needs maintenance. Cut foot on steps was reported to receptionist as no one else there and No first aid or accident paperwork offered to fill out. Bar service next to none. Only one member of staff on in evening to cover reception, bar, restaurant, pool. Leaving myself and our family feeling very much like we didn't matter to this establishment. My little boy loved the power of the showers they were great. Breakfast I'm a morning were good of a good standard the coffee machine is good so you can just get what coffee you want when you want it. Some good choice too. Totally worth paying for breakfast for. Restaurant evening meals were a different matter. The food was processed frozen rubbish mainly. If you want a meal for the evening though there is a pub over the road I'd highly recommend and they have some great wines and the staff there are welcoming friendly lovely people and their chef is just amazing the pub over the road that is!!! Finding someone for the bar was a nightmare so I just gave up in the end. On leaving just topped it off for us and summed up our stay we handed our key cards back and the receptionist looked at us and said " What room we replied 34 she said oh you've already pre paid" she took the cards back then turned her back away from us continued doing what she was doing and we were dumbfounded. THE EMPLOYERS HERE NEED SERIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING AS APART FROM THE TWO I HAD MENTIONED ALL OTHER STAFF WERE RUDE IMPOLITE DIDN'T TAKE ANY PRIDE IN THERE WORK NO ONE APPEARED TO GIVE A CARE TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING. WE LEFT FEELING, EXAUSTED AND REALLY QUITE UPSET. This stay was supposed to be a stay for us to unwind an reconnect with child being busy working parents its took quite alot away from that. Especially with myself having to try and clean my hotel room myself a bit just so I could try relax a little.

Appears slightly tatty from the outside but our room was fine with good WiFi & shower and there is a large car park. Staff were friendly and helpful and the pool plus sauna were a welcome luxury. Breakfast was a small buffet plus cooked to order, a generous portion arriving hot (full English/veggie or smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, porridge also available). There was no gluten free bread the first morning due to a late delivery but it arrived the next day and the hash browns were gluten free though we weren’t convinced about cross contamination issues. The restaurant serves pub style grub with generous servings so quite good value (could do with vegan options) - we were going to try the Half Moon pub over the road but it was closed due to a heating issue. A 15-20min walk to Shaftesbury which is small and pleasant to walk around, boasting the picturesque “Hovis advert” Gold Hill, good views and pubs and a small Abbey ruins which was built for and run by women (closed most of the winter). The Aroma curry house near Morrisons was friendly and served a good though not particularly spicy curry. Overall a decent place to stay if you bag a deal (£150 for a family room for 2 nights was excellent value just after Christmas).

I'm quite aware of the cost of living and the cost of gas and electricity, but to have no heat in rooms is not acceptable. I had to call reception to get an extra quilt and request an additional oil radiator. Room was clean, but smelt musty. Major fault was at dinner, asked for condiments, opened the sachets and poured over my plate, the mustard was runny and slimy I checked the date and these items were 2 TWO years out of date. I complained immediately and this meal was taken off my bill. How many more expired products are they serving their clients - be very mindful when eating at this establishment. One thing I can commend is that the beds are very comfortable. Cannot comment on the pool as I did not use it.

This was our first stay at this hotel, and we decided for the first time ever to use some Best Western loyalty points to pay for it. Perhaps that was our mistake? We booked in February for a one-night stay in June, purely to break a long journey and avoid having to drive tired. Nine days before our arrival we received an email telling us that a wedding had been booked, with an “...evening reception/disco that will finish at midnight. There may be some noise disturbance...” and to contact the hotel if we wanted further information.|We understand that weddings are an important source of revenue for a hotel, and accepted that but assumed that the hotel would act in good faith and take all reasonable steps to avoid giving us a poor-quality stay. How naive we were...||When we checked-in in the afternoon, first impressions were good: the hotel looked OK, the chap on reception was friendly and helpful, the room was small but had what we needed for a one-night stay. Wedding guests were around, but there was no reason to think that there would be any problems. We went out for the evening. When we returned to the hotel at 9 o’clock, we discovered that – although the hotel is quite a sprawling building, with various wings - our room was directly on top of the event room which, because it was a warm evening, understandably had its doors and windows wide open. Sleep was impossible. As there was clearly no point in complaining to reception at that time, we awaited the promised midnight shutdown. And it did stop just after midnight. Unfortunately, we were then treated to 40 minutes of the DJ’s equipment being dragged across a gravelled courtyard and loaded into a van, with accompanying conversation.||The next morning, we made reception aware of our bad night, to be told very politely that we would not have been moved anyway because the hotel was full (surely rooms are not normally finally allocated until check-in?). We were told that the manager would be informed of the problems.||Possibly they were, but if so they don’t actually care, because we’ve not had any form of contact about our stay, despite it being over a week since we...

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel , exterior car park and building do need some attention. Room clean and comfortable. Needed to be aired on our arrival, smelt like death had recently visited our room! Nothing a open window could not clear. Decor was ok ,bit of a mix of old and new. We were in ground floor family room (number 30), would liked to have booked suite but I believe that our four year old would not have fitted :-( . Our room turned out to be perfect for our needs, it was very close to pool and reception yet very quiet.

Food - exceptional for a 3 star hotel , unable to fault (except breakfast sausages, they were horrible). Liked the fact that breakfast order form for room service took into account the fact that people have different apitite sizes. You will get what you ask for as long as you state the number of items you require. I have not seen this system before , but I do like it.

Pool - nice pool area. No child restrictions ref hours of use. It did become very busy and crowded during our visit, but it was the Easter Holidays so was expected. It did not detract from my four year old having fun. Sauna was ok , did not feel very warm and did smell a bit of amonia so did not stay inside for long :-/ Lockers avalible £1 each. Reception provides towels and access code.

Communication prior to arrival very good, we were even pre- warned about a function on the evening of our stay. It did not impact on our stay other than my husband was unable to have his initial...
