i’m not normally the person to make bad reviews as a matter of fact i left never made one before however this ruined my day. today i visit the last post around 1:30pm and i checked the menu to find there was no pizzas at all which i was planning on getting so i had to order something else. i chose to get a cod and chips because i never spend a lot of money on something like a cod so it was the first one i had purchased actually and was really disappointed in the fact someone thinks it would be okay to serve food to this standard. when i cut into the food there was little to no cod probably about 3 milomoters thick of cod and 98% of this was batter. as i had to rush to work straight after and be on a train by 2:30 i could not have asked them to make another one howether i do not think they should expect people to return their food and not make something a chef wouldn’t eat themselves. whoever made this cod must have either been blind or killed the fish while it was breathing in or something to make it as small and cheap as possible to sell for a price of 8 pounds !! what dissapointed me most was the fact i felt extremely sick after eating it and have had a stomache ache all day and probably have food poisoning now. if you have the ability to read please never order a cod from this place i really hope when i go back there again i will be able to order food i enjoy if it had been stocked correctly 🙏

We stayed here for a couple of nights, comfortable rooms but only on the first or upper floor, no lift. Nive bathroom but i dint like fixed showers. Great location just off the High St and near the pier. The pub area downstairs is huge but attractively laid out with plenty of tables, cosy alcoves, conservatory, lots of old photos and history of Southend as an easy place for Londoners to come on a day trip. Easy to order meals using their QR code providing you know your table number. Some of the food was a bit so so, but acceptable, good prices and I had really delicious eggs benedict for breakfast. Do it yourself coffee, etc, with free refill. Plenty of variety and food served up pretty quickly considering how many people there were even in the evening. I loved the fact that bedrooms and corridors had displays of children's art sponsored by Wetherspoons, great project.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable, Affordable, and Perfectly Located The Last Post is exactly what you’d expect from a great Wetherspoons — reliable, affordable, and consistent. You know what you’re going to get, and that’s part of the charm. The food is decent, the drink selection is solid, and the prices are hard to beat, especially compared to nearby options. The location couldn’t be better — right next to Southend Central train station — making it a super convenient stop whether you’re just arriving in town or heading out. It’s a large venue, so there’s usually space to sit, though it can get packed in the evenings, especially on weekends. Mornings are much quieter and perfect if you’re after a relaxed breakfast or coffee. Overall, it’s a classic Wetherspoons experience: nothing flashy, but it does exactly what it promises. Great value and a reliable go-to in Southend.

Good place for drinks but for food? I am not sure. I ordered nachos only to come without sour cream and was served from a manager and he didn't even notice it was missing sauce. I ordered wings with extra bourbon sauce or whatever its called? They served the wings and I was missing the sauces again? I ordered chicken strips and I was again missing sauce? I ordered pizza and I fell sick same day later on. They send pizza and looked like defrosted and microwaved? I was wrong not to ask for a replacement but who knew I was going to get sick from a pizza? By the way I am not easy going to get sick from bad food. Another day I ordered loaded chips and again a manager served me and they forgot the sour cream AGAIN.! the time you guys waste when dish is not served right its ridiculous. Pay attention on what you send out for crying put loud? And that will save you an extra trip on a busy day. Especially a manager should triple check food before send out? But who cares? I'm only a wetherspoons customer not a royal family member or something? I never ordered food again since. P.s i asked manager to bring back again a Buffalo trace bourbon whiskey that was on menu anyway and he said we can't stock again as no one orders and we throw away? Alcohol doesn't go bad guys you know that right? Also why you have on menu when you don't stock it I can't understand? Mark it on menus you don't have that in stock so customers know. ????? Waitresses most of them don't even smile. It's just one or two girls that do. And she wipe the tables as well which is so rare in this place apparently. I am not a guy that wants servers to be super slick buy come on at least try to look nice before you show up to serve customers behind the bar and a smile goes a long way. Hospitality staff should try and smile. No? Am I asking too much? No smile no tip I guess? That's why no one tips. P.s men's toilet is always soaking wet from piss on the floor. When you are dressed smart and going out the last thing you want is piss on your nice shoes? They could probably try and mop but again who cares? We are not royals we are just customers. And no I am not the one soaking the floor wet I know how to aim. I never used the hotel but seems busy so it must do something right on that end. I do recommend for drinks but food not really. P.s I still want to try the new ramen noodle dish but 7 pounds and no meat and no egg in there just for veg and noodles? Also I have an allergy on that dish and there is no way to remove something when you order online through the wetherspoons app. Do you accommodate allergies guys or not? I...

Wow, what a fast service. Orderes my beer on the app and less that 2 minutes later my beer is on my table. Although this may appear to be not impressive, the pub is packed and the staff are on top of everything. If the business is viewing this then give these staff a little treat as this is phenomenal service.

Update on 30/0122

I have taken a star off of my initial rating 3 years ago. Today's service and experience was diabolical. Ordered two dishes with hit drinks. The cups for the hot drinks arrived in due course and about 10 minutes after that one of the meals arrived, a jacket potato dish. After my partner ate her potato I called over a serving member of staff and asked her to check on my meal. She went into the kitchen and after a few minutes came out and walked into another direction. 5 minutes later she walked by my table to serve someone's curry. When she came back she did not even make eye contact. I then asked the member of staff clearing my partner's plate away on the whereabouts of my lunch. She then went into the kitchen, came back out and said it will be 5 minutes ( for the 5 bean chili, rice and tortilla chips). Obviously they had forgotten me. When my dish eventually arrived there was no apology which was the worst thing about the experience. Overall today's meal has been my worst experience in a spoon pub. Hopefully I can put it back to 5 stars soon.

Update in 6/02/22

Went in again on the following Sunday and it was a poor show. Food was cold, service was dire and staff not apologetic at all. Ordered vegan sausages chips and beans (3quorn sausages) and got two. I asked for the theirs and she said you did not order the vegan ones. My error I admitted it which I should do as i checked my order. However still only two sausages instead of three. She reluctantly brought out the third meat sausage with no apologies here. You are still in error spoon, only two were put on my plate. Beans and chips were cold. Two Sundays on the trot and the service has been appalling. During the week no issues whatsoever ever.

Not going back to this particular one as it is obviously the staff and not the business...

Absolutely useless pub. I've been here so many times over the years and honestly the cheap(er) drinks than the competition are the only reason left to go in here. Staff are generally useless behind the bar, serving times horrendous. Went for a meal there today, basically because there was nowhere else I wanted to go. It was obvious from the number of people at the bar and the 'urgency' of the staff (two behind the bar at one end doing literally nothing while one girl served) that we would be standing there forever, so decided to order food via the wetherspoons app. App quoted a 19 minute wait when we ordered, which we thought was fair given it was fairly busy, but nothing compared to how it can get in there. Long story short, after chasing the order up twice, we waited nearly an hour for food, 3 burger meals and a curry. Nothing special. The 'just a burger' I ordered should have come with loads of trimmings according to the menu...I was literally given a plain burger in a bun. Complained to the waiter, he brought it back with some lettuce slapped under it...Still not as advertised in the menu. Every meal we had was obviously hastily and poorly thrown together and poorly cooked.

Entirely the worst experience I have ever had of a pub lunch! If the food had been any good I could forgive a bit of a wait. Kitchen staff should get the sack, so should the manager for running such a shambles quite frankly.

Pathetic pub. Always has been, but at least the food used...
