Stumbled across this little gem whilst on holiday. Initially we were the only customers, having entered minutes after they had opened. Now if you're looking for full-on traditional and authentic Thai cuisine, this is possibly not going to hit the mark for you. However, I would still recommend a visit.
The gentleman inside welcomed us warmly and we found a nice table by the window. If I say there was a lack of atmosphere that is a little unfair, because things are quiet for many businesses at the moment (aside from the Sky Sports pubs which we desperately try to avoid!). The music was at just the right volume and the lighting was spot on for early evening time. The gentleman serving us balanced being welcoming, friendly and chatty perfectly with giving us privacy and time to peruse the menu. The food arrived fairly quickly - thai curries which were perfectly portioned. I can't remember what the exact dishes were, but the food was delicious. Not the best Thai food I've ever had but certainly not the worst and it tasted wonderful which, accompanied with the professionalism of the waiter, made for a definite future recommendation from me, along with the very reasonable prices (£26 for 2 people, with drinks). If you’re in Penrith and looking for a quiet meal away from the noisy pub offerings, its certainly worth a visit.
Thank you to The Magic Bean...
Read moreWhat an amazing find! This is an absolute hidden gem. We were struggling to find somewhere that worked for my wife after the tapas restaurant was fully booked. After a little googling we wandered up from our hotel on the off chance before trying some bigger places, so very glad we did! We were looking for dinner and on arrival discovered a Jamaican/British menu with some lovely looking dishes, including a personal favourite of curried goat. They had great dishes for my wife so we headed in. It was quiet but lovely and very welcoming. The reggae soundtrack was excellent with a present but not intrusive volume. The chef was the only staff member but she did a great job looking after us and made some truly outstanding food! It's not quick as the food is made fresh to order, but it's well worth taking some time to relax and enjoy with good company. Overall we cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you for making our night...
Read moreWe ordered a takeaway last night, which wa lovely and cooked fresh. To start we had the pineapple chicken gujouns, very tasty and the best friend chicken. Forget KFC or Popeyes !
For mains we had the jerk chicken one with Festival and the other with rice and beans Festival Was lovely, it’s like a dumpling bread mixed into a roll and tastes a little like Biscoff ! The rice and peas were ok, nothing special but mixed with the sauce lovely !
We will be going back for sure and hopefully eat on next time as the restaurant menu has more options than...
