I really wanted to give this lovely café 5 stars, but I had to mark them down because of the amount of time I was kept waiting just to be acknowledged and eventually served.
Upon entering the café I asked at the counter if I had to wait to be seated, the lady told me to grab a table and someone would be with me soon. Twenty minutes I waited to be served, and during that time a lady from another table approached the counter and complained that her party had been waiting for quite some time and still hadn’t been served - which proves I wasn’t the only customer who felt like they’d been forgotten about.
I should add that I was there around 3.30pm - which isn’t exactly peak trading hours. If the café was heaving with customers I could understand the wait, but it really wasn’t that busy, and I felt the customers sat outside were treated as priority rather than customers sat inside - which was where I was. Customers who arrived after I did and sat outside were served long before me.
I understand that it can get busy, but it would have been nice to have at least been acknowledged, rather than having staff seemingly to purposely ignore making eye contact with me. I was just about to leave when one of the staff saw me and apologised for my wait.
I ordered a Chai Latte and toasted tea cake, which didn’t take long to arrive and were delicious.
The decor is beautiful, and it really is a lovely café, but for future reference - please acknowledge waiting customers, rather than just pretending they...
Read moreThe Plantation Tea Rooms in Polperro is an absolute gem, offering a perfect blend of beauty and charm. We visited a couple of times during our stay and were equally impressed whether we sat inside or outside. The interior is cozy and welcoming, while the outdoor seating area is simply enchanting. Even in the later evenings, the space transforms with the soft glow of fairy lights, creating a stunning and magical ambiance.
One of the highlights of our visits was discovering their vegan options, which might not be immediately obvious from the menu. However, I highly recommend asking, as the food is truly delicious. Their Vegan Full Breakfast, in particular, was fantastic and left me feeling completely satisfied.
The only downside we encountered was the number of wasps, especially when dining outside. It would be great if they could implement a couple of measures to help deter them, as it was a bit of a distraction from an otherwise lovely experience.
Lastly, I have to commend the staff. They were super friendly and helpful, enhancing our experience with their warm and attentive service. Overall, The Plantation Tea Rooms is a must-visit when in Polperro, offering great food in a...
Read morePolperro is enchanting with its quaint and picturesque streets and The Plantation Tea Rooms is just delightful. We visited on Monday 8th August and had the good fortune to have the lovely warm weather during our holiday. We had taken a boat trip from Looe to Polperro ,courtesy of a lovely gentleman by the name of Colin Matthews, so we had a couple of hours to enjoy Polperro. As it was particularly warm and we had our lovely beagle with us , we were mindful to seek some respite from the heat .We came across this charming tea room with very pretty gardens and asked to be seated in the shade. We decided to sample a cornish cream tea . It was quite simply the best cream tea I have tasted. The setting was quite stunning. I could have stayed there all afternoon ,it was so pretty, and relaxing. My son called it The enchanted garden , and it was .The service was welcoming and friendly , which to be fair can be said for majority of places in Cornwall , but they were particularly helpful and welcoming , the garden stunningly attractive and the cream tea sublime. A little...
