Another place where as a person with a disability you cannot turn your back on your table while going to the toilet.
Learning from a previous experience, here I went so far as to leave a half finished drink and a cup for my refillable tea on the table along with a printed card stating that the table was still in use.
All of these signs were ignored, within moments of me going to the disabled toilet, staff had ignored my message and had cleared the table leaving just my sign behind.
When I return, a member of staff was discussing with other customers how they could ignore my sign and just take up the table where I was sitting because the sign was not "official nor one of theirs".
Of course like anyone would be on returning from the toilet to find what they had paid for had been taken away, I asked to see the manager immediately.
The manager was extremely insistent that I was the party at fault and rather than offer anything close to an apology, tried to blame me because I had not informed her staff that I was getting up and going to the disabled toilet.
I found this even more upsetting. What she was suggesting was that because I have a disability and needed to use the toilet, that I should ask permission of her staff to get up from my table and go use the toilet.
Despite of them being made aware that a streamed video being made, absolutely no apology was offered.
On the contrary, while telling me that I had no right to make my own video, while surrounded by their video surveillance cameras, she took an additional close up photograph of me, without my permission and asked me to leave because I had become upset by their actions here today. Absolutely no apology was offered.
I suggest that I would gladly leave once she provided me with a refund for the unfinished items that they had taken away. Absolutely no such refund was offered.
I would ask the Chairman of Wetherspoons, Timothy Martin, are you really happy with the conduct of your staff and management at the Posset Cup here in Portishead today?
I was in the disabled toilet for less than 10 minutes, don't you see how a simple "oh, I'm sorry sir, let's bring you back your drink and a cup of tea, would have helped to defused the entire situation rather than add to the trauma and upset of the experience by accusing me to have been at fault by leaving a polite sign on my table? Neither the staff or management offered an apology or measures to correct their mistake. Even when asked for a refund they ignored this request.
Rather than offering a late apology now, what measures do you intend to take to educate your staff and management to ensure that people with disabilities are not treated in such a degrading manner when simply wanting to go to the toilet. How dare a manager, that should know better, start to degrade me further by trying to say that I should ask permission to go toilet.
I am deeply upset and degraded by my experience here today and would warn others to expect the same treatment. Not even an apology! -...
Read moreRyan. That’s the name I got given. Let me describe him. Shoulder length hair. Probably Ryan is one of the managers on duty. If you are in my trade of work it’s easy to spot one. I had a very quick drop in visit between 7pm till 7:22pm on evening of the 2nd of April 2024. I was hungry and in need of a hot cooked meal after a very long day. All tables were occupied with people both eating and drinking. I went to the bar and I approached Ryan and asked Ryan if I can sit anywhere to eat and drink. Ryan said sit anywhere and to order at the bar. “Don’t forget to mention your table number” - Ryan said. Found a table. Peruse the menu and ordered food at the bar. Sat back at the table at around 7:05pm and Ryan walked up out of nowhere and said “Did you not see this sign? This table is booked in 25mins.” Ryan then walked off. I didn’t see the signage till Ryan pointed out. If Ryan had bothered to tidy the table which was cluttered with menus then my dear Ryan. I would probably have seen the poster and probably sat elsewhere. Ryan definitely need some additional training in customer service. In fact Ryan needs to learn the etiquette of good manners which clearly Ryan lacks. It’s embarrassing because couple on table 6 and also next to me saw and heard how Ryan had talked to me. Unfortunately for Ryan, I wasn’t embarrassed at all but rather thankful that Ryan wasn’t a team member in one of the pubs that I’m associated with by trade. It’s bad customer service just like one that Ryan has delivered is something that makes me wonder why Wetherspoon's have such a bad reputation with service. I wish Ryan gets to read this and maybe learn this lesson that if Ryan was nicer to customers, it doesn’t cost Ryan a Penny but instead Ryan may have a huge impact on their great experience be it for drinks or food or both. Which of course Ryan failed in my books. I wish and hope Ryan the best in his future endeavours, Ryan probably might not even care after reading this but that’s okay however I will be very happy to share with others in my trade how not...
Read moreIt's been a while since I've visited a Weatherspooms. I couldn't believe it they no longer offer a roast lunch /dinner on a Sunday
The Posset Cup how can I explain very busy not enough staff on to clear table's had to do myself a booth with very dim lighting. Compared to other Weatherspooms establishment this is of poor standards as in service cleanliness. I won't be returning here in a hurry but yes you pay for what you get... Also when the meal arrived it wasn't until we began to eat they had sent out the incorrect original order that was placed. We had ordered the empire state burger but instead we we're served the New York Deli Burger. So as there we're no floor staff to explain that our order was incorrect. I went to the bar explained we'd received the incorrect meal the member of staff, could he see the receipt but I explained we weren't given one. After that an individual offered a some what fake apology and asked what was the order I expressed the order was for 2 empire state burgers. On that instruction the oder was retaken. We sat down back at our table 18 with poor quality lighting my friend left to go somewhere a minute later, the young girl came over to our table with a non expression yet another apology. Without any hesitation she said that would be an additional charge of £2.75 each. I kindly explained it wasn't going to happen as they we're at fault. The young lady concerned just walked off with real bad attitude. Also we had to explore in finding our own mayonnaise and ketchup this seems to be a regular occurrence. For Weatherspooms supposed high standards of service this was very poor...
