The Potting Shed — Restaurant in England

Had a baby shower here and they did amazing chunky chips, everyone raved about them. We came back today for lunch and most of the menu was £18 + burgers looked around the tables for a lunch menu and couldn't find one, ordered from the main menu then 25 mins later saw people getting sandwiches and jacket potatoes, asked our server if there was another menu he said yeah there's a lunch menu, I said where is it he said on the tables; looked around and then went to the bar where there was a stack of them. Why not put them on the tables? It wasn't just ours it was all of them, feels like you're hiding them to get people to pay more. We both ordered nahcos, mine dairy free, youd think theyd have given a bit more guac since i didnt have sour cream or cheese bit they didnt, i actually didnt even have as much guac as my friend did, see pic.Ordered 2 cokes no ice came FULL of ice, top to bottom ice, later saw these on the bill £4.30 each, so £9 for 2 cokes which was actually 1 because barely any coke could fit in there with the ice. I did mention we wanted no ice he said do you want me to take it away and strain it, I said no (that's gross, just offer a new drink if you've done it wrong). Got our food eventually, long wait for a Wednesday and the chips not anywhere near the same as they was before, scabby fries and the portion side was insane, I cannot believe they are charging £4 for that, see pic (we had a few out before picture but you can see the bowl size) i asked if we had the right chips and said about the great ones they used to do, they said the menu has changed don't do those ones anymore. Staff very nice, garlic bread and Cauliflower bites very nice, nice place , expensive soft drinks and they need to sort the chips out ! You can't be charging £4 for 1 potatos worth of fries or for a glass of ice with s smidge of coke in. Was going to come for a birthday with a group but...

Due to another booking for a meal cancelling on us, as the chef was ill,we decided to give The Potting Shed a try. Upon arrival the main doorway was full of people smoking, trying to avoid the rain, not a good first impression. Inside is just a pub with tables for those who want food, nothing special. It was packed and extremely noisy due to the music being very loud. We were eventually seated by a very friendly server who informed us somebody else would come and take our order. This second server couldn't have been less enthusiastic if she had tried. As the music was very loud and also due to how quiet she spoke we could hardly hear what she was telling us.. She eventually managed to explain that they don't normally do starters on a Saturday night! We weren't told any of this when we booked and paid the deposit. She eventually allowed us to order starters as well as our mains. When serving the starters they were all dumped near one person on the table who then had to distribute them to everyone else. This was also the case with the mains. We also had to ask for cutlery and napkins. Everybody said they enjoyed their starters much more than their main meal. One of our party was still eating their main when the server started clearing the table by stretching over the person eating to reach the empty plates. She had previously taken a drinks order and then came back 15 minutes later to ask if we would like to order drinks, we had to explain she had already taken the order. She took ages bringing these drinks back. When we came to paying the bill she hadn't deducted our deposit but rectified this quickly. In all we were all a bit underwhelmed by this place, maybe because it was a Saturday night or maybe due to the lack lustre server but non of our party...

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Popped in for a quick lunch on their lunchtime deal ordered from their lunchtime menu.. The deal was a burger a drink and you get £5 off there was two of us one had the deal one just ordered a regular burger.. The staff brought us two sets of cutlery and the drink on the burger deal then proceeded to bring out the full price burger but not the deal burger. After waiting for half hour and my partner eating his burger and finishing his meal we went to ask where the second meal was, The manager then proceeded to avoid my partner at the bar and serve multiple people before him to then try and lie to him to say we hadn’t ordered a second meal. And that nothing had come through. We paid £30.. For one burger and a fruit shoot? And he brought us two sets of cutlery and the drink so how was the burger missing? The audacity of them then trying to lie to us and say we never ordered it so we got the phone for the order proof.. No apology, No grace in hand in the manner just absolute attitude and argumentative staff.. We approached them in a calm manner for them to give us attitude and act like we were the problem. Before all this even occurred, we had a scruffy looking man who I think was the manager drop our condiments on the table and look us up when we said thank you Like we personally done something to him to upset him, but haven’t even spoken to him at this point. His shirt was untucked and his trousers were hanging down, which didn’t look very hygienic considering you’re serving food. Absolutely disgusted at their behaviour and will never return.. I will also do my best to spread the word in Beverley about the terrible service and attitude of the staff...
