I contacted the restaurant via email on 13th July requesting a table for eight on Saturday 23rd July at 7:30pm. I received a prompt reply stating that as it was a large party we would need to pre order, which we did on the 18th July. Four of us arrived early at 7:10pm and were shown directly to our table, at 7:25pm I managed to get one of the server’s attention and asked if there was a possibility to order some drinks while we waited for the other guests to arrive, which she dully did and went to the bar with our order. As there were four bar staff, you would have presumed that the drinks would be served in a timely manner, not so. The other guests arrived at 7:30pm and we managed to get our first drinks at 7:45pm and had to wait a further 12 minutes to get the remaining drinks. Upon their arrival, I decided to order wine, two reds at £42.50 each and a white at £33.95 delivered to the table, the white was not even chilled or placed in a wine cooler. All this time customers were coming in been seated and served, in fact two tables of four had received their starters and mains, before our starters arrived at 8.25pm. At 9:05pm I asked when we could expect the main courses to be served to which the server could not answer so I requested to speak with the manager who when arrived could only apologise and offer more drinks. When challenged at what time we could expect our pre-ordered meals she said we were fourth in line, again I challenged what time would that be to which she advised me that it was the chiefs decision who got served next, talk about the tail wagging the dog. Eventually at 9:10, the meals arrived. I must point out that the food was good, especially the steaks but unfortunately the whole dining experience was let down by what appeared to be a very inexperienced staff who had no leadership and understanding of how the whole dining experience should have been. Not one smile appeared on any of the staffs faces during our visit. I would strongly suggest to Mr Howard Eggleston, Ms Victoria Warrior, Mr Thomas Sturman and Mr James King that before you start investing in more establishments that you invest some of that money in staff training and team building because it was poor at best. Alternatively go on a fact-finding trip to the USA to Bones Restaurant in Atlanta, Pappas Bros Steakhouse in Houston or Morton’s The Steakhouse in Houston there you will experience how a steakhouse should be managed. The total bill came to £505.78 however, what brought on the indigestion was the £45.98 service charge. It was paid in full, and I am not looking for a refund, but please remember for every good eating experience at least seven people will be told, but for a bad experience, seventy will get to hear about it, so using that equation I suggest that four hundred and ninety people may get to hear of our challenging evening.

I have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it. We had a breakfast on a Saturday as a walk in, I had heard great things about it and I was not disappointed, the large breakfast was tasty with great produce and well cooked by the kitchen. Coffee was good, my partner had eggs Benedict which looked really good and tasted it as well. Then on to a Monday evening we went for my partner's birthday. Booked online easily and even allowed me to amend the booking when I needed to. I ordered the Bao buns. Simply one of the nicest things I have eaten in a very long time. Well cooked duck and pork, hoi sin in the duck did not over power it, the pork sticky and crunchy. There was a lovely layered flavour with a nice heat to it. I could have eaten so many of these they are beautiful. My partner ordered the chicken parmesan and I had a steak for main. Both were really good, my steak slightly under for me however I still ate it and it was tasty and well seasoned. The chicken is a fantastic alternative to a steak, really well cooked and a nice size as well. All the sides are tasty and again the right size. Pudding well my partner loved it, the bombe, the theatre of pouring warm sauce over it to melt the chocolate dome. It looked great, she was worried about it being sickly, but because you put the caramel sauce on, it was not. My only downsides was there was not a lot of staff on the floor, and our waiter looked run of their feet, as it was a fairy busy service, also I had the Corona beer on draught, both pints went flat quickly but still tasted great so not sure why they went flat. Overall a great place and good service with great produce well delivered. A place I recommend to anybody. We will be back

A birthday meal for yours truly, booked in advance by the good lady. Upon arrival we were greeted by the front of house host who showed us right to a reserved table and accommodated the missus with her allergies with a full allergy portfolio, making her choices easy and most importantly safe. The drinks order were taking swiftly, myself opting for a Long Island ice tea and the other half getting a cosmopolitan. These were lovely! For starters we ordered Duck Pancakes and Crispy Squid. Both presented excellently and packed full of flavour. For mains, a Wagyu burger and a Porterhouse stake with sides hit the spot and filled a hole to say the least. Perfect portion sizes and amazing flavour profiles. Not to mention, the steak was cooked to perfection and complemented with a Stilton and bacon sauce. We didn’t opt for desert, as there’s a massive birthday cake sat at home ready to be devoured but the desert menu looked great. Only downside- we were asked if we wanted another round of drinks, and then immediately brought the bill with no drinks at all.. odd. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Will be back.

Wow! What a let down, in so many ways. After recently moving to Yorkshire, we are always following the recommendations of friends and family and we have not been disappointed… until our visit to Tomahawk Steakhouse In Beverley. It’s almost hard to know where to begin but will try and keep it short and sweet… but if you cannot be bothered to read the whole thing, my advice is this… AVOID THIS PLACE!!! From our arrival we was greeted by a very erratic and stressed front of house guy and the worlds loudest live music. After finally getting seated, we were sat at a table with missing cutlery and a soaking, wet sticky table…yuk. We then waited 10 minutes for a waiter to ask for drinks, he couldn’t hear us and we couldn’t hear him due to the extremely loud live music. After finally getting drinks, we then ordered our starters and hoped for an improved night, boy was I wrong. The toilets were filthy, the hot tap handles were missing and even if you did manage to get your hands washed, the hand dryers were out of order… so far, not much luxury to be witnessed. Our very mediocre starters then arrived, they tasted of absolute nothing. My wife had the duck pancakes and these were the greasiest and most unappealing things ever, I’ve had better from the ‘fake away’ range in most supermarkets. As the night continued to amaze us in disappointment, I noticed small things, such as light bulbs missing from the ceiling fixtures, the door being constantly opened so the working staff could go outside and talk to their friends which made the restaurant cold, the kitchen staff leaving the door open so when you use the toilets you can see them messing around and scraping unwanted food (which I’m sure there was a lot), into a bin and a female working member of staff performing an ungodly act to a cucumber behind the bar…. Hardly the opulent atmosphere that you would expect for the price point. After waiting over one hour, our mains finally arrived (with missing drinks)… and to be fair, the steaks for both of us, were AMAZING!!! I can’t lie. However, the steaks were best friends with uncooked greasy chips and flavourless mac n cheese… if you managed to survive the uncooked chip roulette and was surprised by a cooked one, it must have been only 3 times at a maximum. So, with further disappointment we still dared to have dessert as we had travelled almost a hour to visit Tomahawk and thought ‘hey we’re committed now’… my wife got the cookie dough which was brought out fresh from the fires of mount doom… being so hot you couldn’t touch it for at least 5 minutes and served on the worlds smallest and most pretentious plate, which meant that as the waiter brought it over, it was melting and dripping all over his hand and arms and our table and was simply plonked down in front of my wife like she was an inmate. Very unappealing! Mine, the sticky toffee pudding LOOKED better, but don’t let that fool you, it was stone cold and stodgy, dense and flavourless, again… nothing that couldn’t be beat by most supermarkets. With our energy at an all time low and our minds blown over how awful this place could be, it was finally (after 2 hours) time to get the bill and leave HMP Tomahawk. I mentioned to the front of house how disappointed I was, he agreed and told me he himself could probably cook better 😂… he then proceeded to to deduct our starters from the bill and add an additional 20% discount… i said that was fine as I just wanted to get out of there.. however, our bill was still £102. Needless to say I didn’t leave a tip. In summary, I would never return here, it wasn’t luxury or fun, it wasn’t romantic or tasty (apart from 5 mouthfuls of steak), it had an awful atmosphere and the staff need some serious training, their age definitely showed here. It’s the absolute opposite of luxury and opulent and for a date night or special occasion, I can think of loads of better places with better food, better atmosphere, nicer staff and a cheaper bill. Sad to say, after living here for 4 months, this is the first food let down we have...

I recently visited Tomahawk Steakhouse in Beverley for an evening meal with my family, mid-week during the school summer holidays. From the moment we entered, the venue offered a fun yet classy atmosphere. We were promptly greeted, shown to our seats, and our drinks order was taken without delay.

The alcoholic drinks menu had plenty to offer, with a wide selection of high-quality cocktails, mocktails, and a well-stocked range of draught and bottled drinks. They also had the standard range of soft drinks and juices. However, the menu did lack non-alcoholic and low-alcohol options. Upon enquiry, we were informed that they usually have some behind the bar, but unfortunately, they were out of stock during our visit.

The food menu boasted an impressive array of unique and tantalising dishes. While specialising in steak, they also offered an array of creatively described meals, including a shawarma board, stacked burgers, and various fish options. The prices were a bit steep, but considering the rarity and creativity of the dishes, it felt somewhat reasonable. With a mouth-watering list of flavours, I was eager to see if the food would live up to its promises.

Around the table, everyone was sufficiently satisfied with their food, and the steaks were especially well-received. However, given the price point, my expectations were a bit higher than what we ultimately experienced. For instance, one dish came with peas that were clearly microwaved, undercooked, and hard. My chips also seemed underdone, leaving the impression that while the prices were suggesting a higher tier of dining, the quality was being compromised.

Additionally, they charge over £3 for sauces, but only offer portions large enough for four people. This is great if everyone wants the same sauce, but it feels like a waste if only one person does.

Moving on to dessert, the options sounded lush! One of our party ordered the cookie dough, which looked incredible and earned two big thumbs up. I took this opportunity to try the coffee, ordering an artisan latte. It was fairly well-made but served a bit too hot for my liking.

One aspect that left me quite sceptical about the restaurant's ethics was their special menu. They offered a 3-course meal for £20, which initially seemed like a good deal. However, the menu still listed the prices of each dish, despite it being a set £20 regardless of choice. The special menu featured a selection of dishes from the standard menu but listed at lower prices, which led me to suspect that the £20 deal might involve downsized portions of the standard dishes, hoping customers wouldn’t notice. The steak, for instance, didn’t specify its size, but there was an option to "upgrade" to the same size as the standard steak for an additional £18—making it £10 more than it would cost on the regular menu. This special offer menu felt very suspicious and left a bitter taste in my mouth for the rest of the evening.

While my previous concerns are relatively minor, one issue significantly impacted our dining experience: the noise level. A nearby table had a child who screamed continuously for the entire hour and a half we were there. I understand the staff’s ability to intervene is limited, and they did apologise to us on our way out. However, it’s worth noting that they allow party bookings here, and those groups are not separated from the rest of the restaurant.

In summary, Tomahawk Steakhouse offers a vibrant atmosphere and an enticing menu, but the overall experience was somewhat let down by inconsistent food quality and the noisy...
