Felt a bit let down after my visit here on the 4th July 2021. First impression wasn’t great, as we were seated at a table, which hadn’t been cleaned. We then had to try and grab the staff’s attention multiple times throughout our sitting, for example when they forgot to provide cutlery, or ask us how the food was, or if we would like any more drinks.

The food itself - we ordered 2 pie of the days which were chicken, mushroom and tarragon. Looked fine, but the filling in the pie smelled and tasted like gone-off milk/cream. The food was returned, and we were not offered any apology, just an alternative pie of the day, which was steak. This felt strange, as the steak pie then came out about 20 minutes later, which made us feel as though we had perhaps been offered yesterday’s pie of the day with the chicken and mushroom!! Steak pie was okay, nothing special considering the price, and the mash and greens were just that. Simple and bland.

Disappointing and a real shame, as I did have my hopes up looking at...

For a start, the menu says “homemade tartar sauce” but they brought out packets of tartar sauce. The fondant was not a fondant but a round brownie with some chocolate looking soft substance shoved in the middle. There was no strawberry with it either, even though the menu said it would be included. The vegan burger was burnt and we had to ask for another. We had to ask for any condiments instead of them being given to us along with the food. With the prices they charge for the food, you would expect table service but we had to order everything from the bar. It had the atmosphere and service of a Wetherspoons but they still had the nerve to charge a £36 service charge. To make things even worse, this place only has two high chairs. We were using both of them when another family came in so they were out of luck. For tourists who might not know or expect better, this place is probably just fine. I guess my standards are just a little bit higher. I shan’t be visiting this...

We met a family member for dinner at The Queen Charlotte Pub, having read such wonderful things about it. Our meals were delicious and we were delighted by the vast array of gin and tonics one can order there. We all had Fish 'n Chips (I had scampi with mine), which everyone loved as it was expertly prepared (not a soggy fish & chip in sight), except for my nephew, who had the Hunters Chicken. He cleaned his plate so I think he also enjoyed his meal. The pub was empty that night, but it was raining heavily and right after the Christmas holiday break, so that could explain it. Don't let this pub's humble interior fool you. The quality of the food and drinks are excellent, and the pub is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the Castle Hotel, where we spent the night. We'd go back to try a different gin and tonic, and another item on the...

Update: I went back after a while and food is so much worse than it used to be. I got a veggie burger and it looked like it was made by a 5 year old. It was literally two slices of cold bread with a single tomato, a leaf of lettuce and a patty with no sauce. The food is really good quality and the price is very convenient. I definitely wasn't expecting that from a pub that's right across the Windsor castle, so I'll definitely come back. I also really liked the fact that the place is air conditioned and a lot less crowded than the neighboring pubs in the same street.

Doesn't get any better than this! What a delightful bar/restaurant. A perfect place to pop in for lunch on a day at the castle. Luxury finish furnishing, yet warm, cozy and comfortable. Really friendly, warm welcome and attentive staff. Fantastic selection of drinks. Good food menu choices. All such good value. The food was out of this world good! Really must stop and eat here! Outside seating at the front on cobbled street also available. I really can’t recommend highly enough. So glad we waited until 12:00 for it to open. We will definitely be back.
