Please avoid this place. Rude, incompetent staff.
If you are a tourist, again go elsewhere, lots of good placesābut not here, sadly.
Hereās my experience:
I entered the cafe and asked politely if there was space for two adults and a child with a high chair. I got a bit of an eye roll from the elderly waitress, like it was an issue.
We sat down and my wife pushed our pram to the seat and I noticed that the waitress was doing the eye roll thing again behind my wife.
We order our food and then the same waitress says āis that it?!āāThe tone was cutting, and not what you would expect when we are paying customers. Again, I didnāt say anything, as I was a bit shocked at the tone.
We order our food and it finally comes. Itās pretty average, portions were small to be honest. (And Iām from London the home of small portionsš)
The climax of our visit was when the waitress āaccidentallyā bumped into my wife and spilt hot tea over her, while she was holding my 18 month old son.
She carried on to serve the other customer like nothing had happened even though my wife screamed loudly.
She turned around and acted like it was some problem with the table. She tried to readjust it, but it didnāt move one bit. Proving it was nothing but her own incompetence that caused the issue.
We eventually got an apology out of her, but it felt very insincere.
Immediately asked for the bill, and she initially didnāt seem to be aware that people can pay using phones. I confirmed that this is my credit card, she then pointed for me to tap on the screen and not on the contactless area.š
No offer to reduce the bill, no instinctive āare you ok, Iām sorry.ā (Natural human response)!
As a side note, if you check my profile you can see Iāve reviewed lots of places around the world and honestly never had this level of poor service before.
In fact, Iām sorry to say that this is my first 1 star...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was absolutely awful. The worst experience ever. We ordered two teas, a scone and a large pizza. The teas came with the tea bag outside of the kettle, so it wasnāt poured with boiling water and therefore the tea didn't taste as good as it could have tasted. They forgot to bring my scone, so i had to remind them to do so. The scone was bought (i saw them opening packages in the kitchen) and small and not at all worth 5 pounds. The pizza was overall ok but not good as I would expect for a 17.50 pound pizza. For a pizza that was advertised as large it was rather small. They didn't take our dirty dishes away. Didn't bring us the check, had to ask to pay at the counter. As a grand finale charged a 10 % service fee (we didn't want to leave any tip as it was just awful). Awful, awful, awful. Seriously, get your act together, this was really embrassing. Thanks for nothing but ruining our day.
The waiter was eating at the next table and continued to serve and the returning back to eating, we also found that quite wierd. And seeing into kitchen would be fine, but maybe close the door if you unpack bought scones and "warm them up" in a microwave.
Sincerly, your outraged costumer who will never come back and try to forget this incident entirely.
P.s. At lease clean...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a lovely spot to stop and rest for a while, enjoy a natter, and a fine English pot of tea or cup of coffee - or whatever else you may fancy - along with traditional cakes and English scones generously topped with jam and cream! The staff are very friendly and the Tea Room itself is like taking a soothing step back in time, when life was so much simpler and less manic.
There is seating both inside and outside the teahouse, the latter being on a cute cobbled path with clear views of Windsor Castle, just a stone's throw away.
Meanwhile if you are lucky enough to visit on a sunny day I would recommend that you take a leisurely stroll on the Long Walk, from the Castle to the statue at the end of the Walk. You will then also be treated to watching many planes fly very low above you every few minutes as they prepare to land at Heathrow Airport! (Something for the plane-spotters such as...
