A Royal Experience, But Not Quite Fit for a Prince
Rating: 3.5/5
Last weekend, our family of four had the opportunity to dine at the Prince Harry Pub in Windsor. With its prime location right next to the majestic Windsor Castle, this pub certainly piqued our curiosity.
Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and cozy atmosphere. The staff were quick to seat us and take our orders, which is always a plus when dining out with a family. Our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the evening, ensuring our glasses were never empty.
As for the food, we opted for the burgers, fries, and slow-cooked lamb. While the presentation was visually appealing (see attached photos), the taste was nothing out of the ordinary. The burgers were decent, but we've had better elsewhere. The slow-cooked lamb was tender but could have used more seasoning to make it truly memorable.
One downside of the pub was the higher than average pricing. We understand that the premium location near Windsor Castle likely plays a role, but it would have been nice to see that extra cost reflected in the quality of the food.
In conclusion, the Prince Harry Pub offers a lovely atmosphere and friendly service, but the food could use some improvement to match the royal surroundings. The next time we visit Windsor, we will likely explore other dining options to find a more satisfying...
Read moreMy mother and I came for a day trip to Windsor and had a great time...until we entered The Prince Harry pub. Our “welcome” was a lady rushing past us multiple times without even acknowledging that we were standing by the bar When she did finally look at us, it was to tell us that we should “find a place to sit”. We saw ourselves to our table and decided on what meals to order. We again had to ask how to continue and were rudely told by a woman that we should order at the bar and her colleague told us this; very condescending. She did not. So after this, we got up and left. In all, I second the other 1 star rating and have to say, if you’re not white, it doesn’t look like you’re welcome at this pub. This country has a huge problem with insidious racism and sadly today was just another one of those incidents. A pub bearing the name of a Royal who has made statements about the racism inflicted upon his wife, should really be ashamed; quite frankly, you should change your name as you’re clearly not accepting and...
Read moreMy family lived at the Three Tuns Hotel, Windsor from about 1919 to 1957. My Great-Grandmother, Mrs Minett, was our first licensee, then Nanny (her daughter Dolly Reay) was licensee from Mrs Minett's death until 1957 when we all moved to Worcestershire. Mother and Father worked for Nanny. My elder sister, myself and younger sister were all born whilst we lived in Windsor. The Parish Church (next-door-but-one to the Tuns) was where we were christened and I married my first husband there.
My Grandpops, James Reay, lived with Nanny & Great Grandmama at the Tuns through WWII (he was injured in WWI). He slept upstairs all through the war ignoring ALL air raid warnings. On a particularly bad night Nanny tried to get him to come down to the shelter - his response (now famous in our family) was "b----- 'em Doll, I ain't getting out of my bed for no bleeding Jerry! He never did and survived the war, albeit with German shrapnel firmly embedded in his body (it was deemed too dangerous...
