Disheartening Experience at The King & Castle Pub
Rating: ★☆☆☆
Today, I had an incredibly disappointing experience at The King & Castle pub, a place I visit regularly during my lunch breaks. As a loyal customer, I have always appreciated the ambiance and service at this establishment. However, today's encounter has left me questioning the standards of customer service.
Upon entering the pub, I was on the phone with my wife for our routine check-up. Politely, I approached the bar to order a pint of beer and a burger. To my surprise, the lady behind the bar outright refused to serve me, citing the fact that I was on the phone. I want to emphasize that I was not being disruptive, loud, or discourteous in any manner.
When I requested to speak to the manager, I was met with an even more disappointing response. The lady behind the bar claimed to be the manager and arrogantly stated, "I am the boss." Despite my attempts to resolve the situation amicably, she maintained her refusal to serve me.
What added to my frustration was the fact that the pub was relatively empty at the time, and there seemed to be no apparent reason for denying service. As a regular customer, I felt disheartened that my loyalty did not warrant the basic courtesy of being served.
In an attempt to seek clarification, I called the pub, only to be met with further disappointment. The lady on the phone closed the conversation abruptly after I shared my side of the story, leaving me without the answers I sought.
In conclusion, I am deeply disappointed by the lack of civility and customer service during today's visit. As a customer who has consistently chosen The King & Castle pub, I believe it is essential for establishments to uphold standards of service and treat patrons with respect. I hope this review serves as a constructive critique and encourages improvements in customer service at The King &...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews but the doormen from The King & Castle have the worst attitude I’ve ever seen. They didn’t only refused to let us in (someone in our party don’t have his physical ID), presenting a copy of a picture ID (with photo and proper DOB), AND clearly stating that the person will NOT be drinking, they were also extremely rude to my parents who were just trying to look for a place to spend some time with us.
We spent a good couple of minutes looking for a picture copy of the ID to show to the doormen, in order to show that we are eligible for the bar. However, they waited until we found the copy to only tell us that they don’t accept copies of IDs. If that was the case, then they could have told us earlier and we can just go to somewhere else and we can all move on with our lives. But instead, they chose to chit chat with each other, allowing us to waste the time to look for the copy, and only to tell us our efforts were futile. This alone, is good enough for us to never return and write a review on Google to ensure that other potential customers will see this and impact their decision to ever come to The King & Castle.
Apparently, the restaurant would let their doormen decide whether or not it will profit from a family who would be more than willing to pay for two or more rounds of drinks. I guess they would rather hold on to their so-called “values” / “bad experiences” than to think logically about the circumstances and consider for the overall benefit for the bar.
We also felt that we’ve been treated unfairly due to our race, as we’re the only Asians around the area looking for some place to drink. This is our first time to Windsor and if this is how we’re treated, then I guess Windsor isn’t really that great of a...
Read moreVery very very unfriendly staff!! we came to this spoons last night for my boyfriends birthday. At first the woman bartender who was wearing a blue top came over to deliver our drinks, one drink was completely wrong and she was adamant that she was right, well, until she was proven wrong and said “can you drink it though?” bearing in mind, this was the wrong drink and cost me £8.
my friend then found a blonde long hair in her drink, (none of us have blonde hair, we are all brunettes) she went up to the bar where she was greeted by the same very rude woman, this woman made my friend feel very uncomfortable and said no one behind the bar has blonde hair, which was funny considering the woman who checked our IDs at the table had blonde hair ?!? and why on earth would we carry a stray blonde hair with us to purposely put in a drink? for a new drink? what would be the point?
the woman was so rude and made us feel so uncomfortable that we then moved to the top floor of spoons.
wetherspoons windsor, do better, hire better. because all that woman is going to do is bring down your reputation. she had the same customer service skills as a mouldy sandwich. absolutely awful.
So yeah I do not recommend this spoons unless you enjoy finding HAIRS in your drinks and rude staff who are willing to argue with you, over their own issues.
I’ve been to many spoons up and down the UK and this was actually shocking. (as you can tell this isn’t a one off review, many other people have had the same experience with the manager who’s as helpful as chocolate teapot, and the rude bartenders who are clearly inept.
DO BETTER, this spoons is becoming an embarrassment to even have in windsor, bring back dirty spoons asap!!! at least they spoke to their customers like...
