I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Queens Tap in Swindon, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled conveniently near the Swindon train station, this charming pub has mastered the perfect blend of traditional ambiance and modern flair.
The moment you step inside, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The rustic wooden decor, coupled with tasteful contemporary touches, like the Tina Turner painting so creates a cozy and relaxing environment perfect for any occasion—be it a casual meetup with friends, a family gathering, or just unwinding after a busy day.
The staff at The Queens Tap truly deserve a special mention. From the moment we walked through the door, we were welcomed with genuine smiles and friendly banter. The service was impeccable—attentive without being overbearing, and incredibly efficient, ensuring that we never waited long for our orders despite the bustling crowd.
Now, let's talk about the food and drinks! The Queens Tap offers a fantastic range of beverages, including a well-curated selection of local ales, craft beers, and ciders, as well as an impressive assortment of wines and spirits. The bar staff are knowledgeable and more than happy to recommend something to suit your palate.
The menu is a culinary delight. Traditional British pub fare, with hearty portions that cater to both carnivores and vegetarians alike. I highly recommend the the sunday roast!!!
To top it all off, The Queens Tap frequently hosts live music and quiz nights, adding an extra layer of entertainment to your visit. It's clear that this pub truly cares about creating a vibrant community atmosphere.
In summary, The Queens Tap is a gem in Swindon's crown. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this pub is an absolute must-visit. Great food, excellent drinks, friendly service, and a fabulous atmosphere—what more could you ask for? I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Read moreMy dad and I met at the Queens Tap to catch up. For the first 45 minutes, we had a lovely time there. At first we struggled to find a seat, but the beer on tap was good and the lady who served us (brown hair - I don't want this review to reflect badly on her at all as she didn't set a foot wrong!) did a great job. There are lots of TV screens if you are interested in watching the football and the general atmosphere was positive and friendly. Unfortunately, when I went up to order our second round of drinks, things quickly went downhill. While waiting at the bar, a man tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I had been served yet - I clarified I hadn't. A green-haired female bartender then looked up and immediately began shouting at the man who had tapped my shoulder - claiming that he had been told to leave already and that she wouldn't serve him. I can't comment on whether that man had done anything wrong prior to that encounter, as I don't know him and hadn't seen him in the pub before then. After the man left, I attempted to order, but was shouted at by the same green-haired female bartender, who angrily told me that I also needed to leave. I calmly explained that I did not know the man who had tapped me on the shoulder, that I was here to see my dad, and that we had been peacefully sitting in the pub for the past 45 minutes. She continued to shout at and berate me, despite my attempts to deeacalate. Ultimately, my dad and I left the Queens Tap because of this upsetting experience and went next door to the GW Hotel - where the service was far friendlier! The Queens Tap definitely has the makings of a good pub - but they might want to reassess how they treat their clientele (or how they hire their staff!) because our experience was...
Read moreA group of 7 had our work Christmas lunch at the QT yesterday (23/11) and it was absolutely brilliant.
We had pre ordered our food and it was all brought out hot and on time, with the wait staff calling for people by name (meaning I didn't have to faff about with bits of paper to identify people's orders!). All of the food was hot (where appropriate) and well presented.
I had the prawn cocktail to start which was a very generous portion with the most delicious bread I've ever had! The seafood platter was next which again, was a generous portion with two fish goujons, some spicy breaded prawns (5/6 from memory) and scampi (along with chips, peas, tartare sauce and a lemon wedge). Everything was crispy and freshly cooked and tasted brilliant. We then took a break before dessert as we were all extremely full but then the Ultimate Brownie pud came out..! Warm chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and strawberries. Not sure how I managed to eat all of it but it was delicious.
Drinks were all reasonably priced - I had a selection of flavoured gins (from memory: blood orange, violet, strawberry and lime and Gordons pink) all of which were served quickly and with garnish. The rest of my group had a mixture of gins, wines, beers and soft drinks.
Overall we had a great 4 hours at the pub with attentive bar and wait staff and the landlady made sure we were all well looked after. We will definitely be back in...
