Have previously given this place 5 stars for food and service as we always eat here when on holiday. Comedy of errors tonight so just one star. Arrived at 5.30 for table for two booked in advance. Shown to smallest table in the place with overhanging shelf that reduces table size. Ordered drinks and service seemed slow. Three staff on but guy waiting tables was doing so in slo motion. Meals came out but didn't seem particularly hot, just seemed as though it was either kept warm or warmed up. Couple on table next to us had half their bill mixed with half of ours. When it was our turn to pay guess what? Yep mistake again and drinks missing from bill which i owned up to. Then Mr speedy was turning away residents that had booked even though there were empty tables available. Luckily he was saved by one of the waitresses. The residents then had to keep returning to the bar due to the slow service. Good place gone bad....

Stayed overnight in Feb 2017, we had a double room, with plenty of space. Good selection of hot drink choices (including decaff options) and the biscuits were of pretty decent quality. The en suite didn't have a bath (not surprising given the size of bathroom) but the shower was powerful enough and the complementary washing products were refreshing enough. The mattress was slightly softer than my preference, but I had a good enough nights sleep on it. Wi-fi was available and seems quick and stable enough for general browsing. A full cooked breakfast (including hog's pudding which was a pleasant surprise) was served quickly after ordering and the poached eggs were great. No parking available on site, though a long stay car park is maybe a 4 minute walk away (albeit it up a steep hill). As a note, the rooms are located up a fairly narrow staircase and I wasn't aware of any lift for people with...

Clean, warm and friendly. We paid for the top tier room which was a good size. The bathroom was nice and had a good shower, could have done with being a bit taller but being 6ft3 I struggle with that in most places. Really comfortable bed and a good tasty fry up we're ideal. The only downfall was the TV in our room didn't work at all but they knocked a bit off the bill to compensate. The bar downstairs was nice and had a good vibe too it, they also stocked Old J rum which was great to see! Would recommend for sure. It's also right in the middle of town which is really handy but we had to park at the train station, that was only a five minute...

Wonderful and friendly staff. Room had a very comfy feeling and fairly clean. Toilets were well aerated. Overall simplistic design that feels like home. Lacking amenities and other facilities that make it 4 star worthy. However 4 stars for cleanliness. Most impressive was breakfast service which is exclusive to hotel guests only. Side entrance could be improved and signs for the hotel entrance could be more visible.

Stayed here for one night on Easter weekend. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the room was quirky and cute. Some little things need fixing and look a little run down but nothing drastic and we were even lucky enough to have a small sea view from our window! Breakfast was good too. In a great location in the centre of St Ives with a 5 minute walk to the harbour. Would highly recommend!

I’m comparing other hotels in same price range throughout Cornwall - definitely not a 4 star. Pros- bedding comfortable!! Huge plus Location great (except since it’s in the heart it does have street noise! Cons- hotel run down and older, bathrooms small, tv not smart Certainly a good place to stay, but don’t expect as charming as the photos (or maybe we got the room that wasn’t pictured🤣)
