The golden lion pub in St. Ives, Cornwall is a big golden lie. The only semi accurate portion of their image is the lion. All of the food tasted as if it was found inside the rotting, months-old carcass of a poached lion. The onion rings were wet and pustular, they tasted as if they were fried in the neck oil of the surly bartender who took our order. The testicular mushrooms were the best thing we ordered even though the garlic mayo on the side resembled a tepid bowl of curdled man-milk. The burgers were obviously cooked on a griddle that hasn’t been cleaned in years. The food had remnants of meals from years past. Giving it a vintage, nostalgic quality. The chicken was shriveled and flavorless with enough mayonnaise goop on it to feed a family of 4. This is less of a tourist place than, say, The Lifeboat Inn, so your may find more locals than foreigners (myself excluded) here. Then other people who had came in after in and orderd after me was served there food before my kids foods. When I asked about my food they said I was next but still continue to bring out food for other tables. No refund or discount given when asked for my money back. Would never eat here again or recommend to people to eat here out a nite out. Also how do people order fried scumpy and get a chicken...
