Great views of the harbour beach but beware Apartment 2 pitfalls:|Very steep stairs down and up BETWEEN the shower-room and 2 bedrooms and no en-suite (not entirely clear on booking and somewhat misrepresented by standard pictures only of other shower/ bathrooms).|The Bathroom turned out to be a basic wet-room, with no working plug for sink and poorly designed mixer tap (think very large kitchen one and way too large for a bathroom sink), this resulted in only free running water and difficulty to maintain decent bathroom functionality; some small areas of mould are bound to develop on the sink sealant, and wet floor surround edge therefore not surprisingly.|Poor (and in lounge non ambient) lighting |-the one lounge lamp not working and main light a bare bulb.|Nice functional Kitchen but no dishcloth which might have been nice (you don’t expect to need to pack one), did not ask for one because some of the senior staff can appear a little severe and strict on manner, and unforgiving from the get-go. Rather quickly asserted at check-in, quite rudely therefore, that we had no breakfast included, could have it but would be charged (we knew that); at another time when my Wife simply very politely asked if she could quickly borrow a salt seller from the bar restaurant and return it (she mistakenly thought we hadn’t one in the apartment but not the point) she was abruptly declined when referred to a senior staff person with the reply ‘we need it for the customers’ ….but were we not regarded as customers ?.|On early arrival we had requested any possibility of an earlier check-in, fair enough though we were told rather bluntly no (so no flexibility what-so-ever), but even when we arrived back later as requested we were told ‘you can’t check in till 3’ when the time had just turned 3 O’clock ! the check-In person realised the error and then obliged - but just seems indicative of the inherent style of management.|So beware and take your own life jacket to the Lifeboat Inn, you may feel like your jumping into rough seas at times !.|But hey-ho ‘shipmates’ the location is great, the apartment has some nice charm, great views, nice comfortable beds and fresh bed linen and I think beneath the defensive management style the team are honest and hard-working, and a barman was friendly.|But even if you forgive apartment 2 is poorly designed and you may have misunderstood the configuration (no en-suite or proper bathroom) you just do not feel comfortable to ask, nor confident of resolution, to even enquire about such essential matters as no working bathroom sink plug, let alone a non-working singular lounge lamp, so we improvised.|I appreciate it is also very busy at the Inn but we booked what turned out to be a very poorly configured basic wet-room facility apartment, which may not have been otherwise taken, at still over...

Stayed for 2 nights September 25, Gorgeous building on the harbour of st.ives, we were expecting to park up and walk a fair way with suitcases because of location... It is what it is... Be prepared. Checked in, nice social area, the lady who checked us in was pleasant and showed us to our room. Out of a side door in to an alley, in through another side door and up a really steep staircase...if you're not able bodied?, this isn't the place for you. Our room was large and comfortable, everything you would expect for the price point, clean and spacious. The water pressure....abysmal. it took nearly an hour to run a bath... I don't know if anything can be done about that?. The shower was slow but functional. I've seen a nose run quicker than the taps. In the room we were in, there weren't any views but we were out and about so it didn't really matter. The bar was well stocked, sporting events on the screens, so if you are a sports fan?... You're catered to. The breakfasts were very nice but the service at breakfast was minimal and awkward. First morning, there wasn't any juices available, but the second morning there were. I don't know if I was being stupid?, but cereal and milk was available but apparently nothing to put them in?... Again I don't know if I was being stupid or not looking in the right place, but I would expect the necessary wares to be obvious. Nice selection of pastries and condiments and the butter was soft which is rare. You are shown to a table by the first staff member you come in to contact with, but after that it's whoever you can get the attention of.... And the food is good. But after it's been delivered we had no follow through or check in, no offer of drink refills and while I'm on the subject.... The tea is not good. Boasts at being a Cornish blend but if that means 'piddle weak'?... They need help. It's a lovely, building, a fantastic location, the rooms are nice, the food is nice.... But the service isn't there, there is no structure to the customer facing roles, it's a bit whoever, whenever. Upon checking out?.... We just left the key on the bar with a wave to a staff member sat in the office. No follow up about our stay, were we happy?, were there any issues?, the beer barrel banging in the alley at 6 in the morning right underneath our room wasn't the worst thing to happen in the world, but it did wake us up. The facilities are there, it's not amazing stay but it's satisfactory, but the service is substandard for the price point... And I get it, it's a popular town, an amazing sought after location.... They don't need the repeat business because they will get new business year on...

Just stayed at the lifeboat inn for the first time and it won’t be the last . From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had a snack in the bar as our Room wasn’t ready ( we arrived early ) food was lovely and then one of the young ladies said the room was ready . We were upgraded to a sea view room . The rooms are beautifully decorated and had everything you need with lovely little touches like cut glass crystal glasses and bottles water etc in your fridge . We had a beautiful breakfast included and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve had anywhere with fresh local ingredients and to my husbands delight Hogs pudding . Coffee was fresh and very nice , we would definitely stay again and a mention to Karen on the breakfast staff and to be fair all the staff in General who were lovely Debbie and Shaun room 4

I booked for Sunday lunch after viewing photos of a traditional Sunday lunch. Was shown to our table and not informed someone would come and take our order but that’s what seemed to be happening at other tables. Waited and waited but nobody came, so I went to order drinks at the bar and they said it’s table service for the food, so I said can I just order at bar and she said yes. A while later a lady came to take our order and I explained how long we waited. She said sorry but nobody told her we were seated and needed our order taking. We waited approximately 30 mins before I ordered at the bar. Was disappointed it was beef brisket which I’m not a fan of as it has a strong taste. Thought it would be roast beef like I had seen on reviews. Nice views but I probably wouldn’t eat here again for Sunday lunch.

Decent food, good range of (St. Austell - inevitably) ales, nice, family-friendly décor and down-to-earth staff characterize this popular pub in St. Ives Harbour. The small town, which has enjoyed the reputation of being an "artists' colony" for more than a hundred years, is a very touristy place - the most touristy of all in the area. So expect this pub to be busy throughout the day and into the evenings, and not just during the summer months. If you intend to eat there with a group of friends of family in the evening, a reservation is surely in order. As a single traveller you should always be able to secure a spot. The food is superior grub, and the menu streamlined as The Lifeboat Inn is part of a chain. However, on the upside you'll know what to expect.
