A fantastic pub. The staff go above and beyond to put on several events monthly and are doing well to keep the Aylesbury music scene alive. They have a wide selection on draft and many different gins to try. They do a monthly open mic, pub quiz and often have DJs playing various genres of music, usually over the weekend. They also have a lovely outdoor area with heated areas and offer blankets that you can use outside. There's an 'outdoor indoor' section with a gorgeous mural and everywhere is pleasantly decorated. The pub is usually very tidy despite the fact that it can get quite cramped when it's busy but people are quite polite. I would recommend booking a table if you are planning on bringing a group of more than 4 with you especially for nights like the pub quiz. They also do a very nice selection of hot food which changes throughout the year, I would particularly recommend their burgers! There is a fireplace by the toilets and a cupboard with a wide selection of board games including classics like Scrabble and chess. All of the staff are very friendly and there is definitely a feeling of family between all of them, looks as though they look after each other and want the best for their customers. It is a busy and popular pub, prices are a little higher than other places (similar to The Kings Head and The Old Millwright Arms) but you genuinely get what you pay for, a fun and cosy pub with great...
Read moreA very charming, very old pub with excellent food and service. We were welcomed by the barman, who was very friendly and cordial. I asked about their ciders and was promptly given samples of the two on tap. Both were nice, but I preferred the Rosie's Pig rhubarb. We both had the vegan lentil burger with chunky fries and side salad. Unlike most pubs we've visited, these seemed to be homemade on location rather than a frozen commercial patty, and they were quite good, as were the chips. The place was quiet while we were there, and offers several distinct seating areas, including a secluded courtyard, tables outside in front, and several different areas with both high and low tables inside. Adding to the homey touches provided by the photos and paintings of the area at various times in history were a box of games to play while you were there and a box of neatly-folded blankets with a sign encouraging you to borrow one if you were cold. I found this a particularly nice touch. There is also at least one fireplace with a supply of logs. Toilets were very clean, as was the rest of the pub. Very much enjoyed the time we spent there. ...
Read moreI am very disappointed in the way I was treated by the land lady.
Firstly, I was accused of being sick and when I tried to explain that it had nothing to do with me she wouldn’t listen.
I then re attended a couple of weeks later; One of my friends left the pub with a glass & I had gone after him to retrieve it as I have/had respect for this locally ran establishment. I then returned with all of the glasses & explained to the kind bar lady with the black hair that I had retrieved these glasses for her. The landlady then ran out and accused me of being a ‘drug dealer’ & that I was banned from the pub?
Once again, she would not listen & walked away.
I rarely go out of my way to leave a review, however after being treated in such a disgusting manner I felt that others should be made aware of how the land lady treats an...
