Called in for a meal and the lady at the bar couldn’t have been friendlier - ordered food and all arrived within a reasonable time - my steak was ordered medium and came over cooked and passed the point where it tastes more like liver and was grey throughout ! I wasn’t going to say anything as we had to be somewhere but the lady behind the bar came over and asked so I wants going to lie and I said it wasn’t medium and was overcooked. She said she would have another cooked for me which was fine and 10 mins later came back with a replacement. Upon cutting into this one it was blue - a couple of breaths and I’m sure it would have moo’d at me !!!

At this point I couldn’t be bothered but my partner called the bar lady over and she took it away for a 3rd attempt of cooking the raw one again for a bit longer - after 5 mins of so it came back and it still wasn’t right but more edible than the previous 2 attempts !!!

The chips, onion rings etc on my plate were still the ones served with the original steak and by now as I’m sure u can imagine were cold and soggy

Again we had to be somewhere after the meal so I ate what I could and we paid and left

£17.50 for that disgrace of a steak and was the cheapest cut - a rump not even a sirloin/rib eye - no sauces served with the steak or available on the menu

When I paid we were already late having had my steak cooked 3 times but we weren’t offered a discount etc and had I had time to argue I would have refused to pay

I don’t know if it is a new chef hence why she asked me rather than me complain but if so that chef shouldn’t be trusted with beans on toast

Definitely will not be going...

We as a family have been occasionally using the Royal Oak for take away meals on a Friday night since the lockdowns forced them to closed last year. We've ordered a variety of meals from Fish & Chips , Steak Pie , Scampi , Lasagne , Pork or Beef Roast Dinners and most recently , their new Chinese munch box which feeds a family of 4 (Propper Chinese portions!) Not once have they disappointed. The prices are more than fair, the food is proper pub grub which has that home cooked taste about it and clearly hasn't been shoved in a microwave and served up, They are professional with their ordering schedules and are always adding new ideas for their food. Their latest Chinese munch box defiantly impressed, their photo and description doesn't do it justice! We have members of the family who would usually pass on the opportunity to have a Chinese take away , but this munch box comes with a large selection of items, the sauces separated and the food cooked in true pub fashion , allowing everyone to pick and choose how they like it and it had something for everyone. For £25, We will be ordering this again...

This pub deserves to be packed !! Just had a superb Sunday lunch, quality of food and service was great. Gorgeous quality meats, they serve Gammon, Beef or Pork. We had the Pork and the Beef, extra jug of gravy and 5 different veg as well as roast potatoes. As for drinks I’m on zeros at the moment, they serve Guinness, Heineken draft, Old Mout zeros and then all the full strength stuff, including local ales on draft. Highly recommend this place and would come again. Just on the right over the bridge as you head out of Pateley to Grassington, 2mins walk from the bridge. Give it some support, we will be back next time in the area. Lovely interior, great choice of background music, only scored 3 on atmosphere as it just needs more patrons. Thank you! Oh and...

What a little belter of a village pub, with everything you need for an enjoyable day/night. We’ve had evening meals, Sunday lunch (today), BBQ’s (during the England finals/Summer street party), great drinks (Guinness is SUPERB) all to a fantastic standard, served by warm welcoming staff that makes you want to return time and time again. Weld done The Royal Oak you’ve definitely got the recipe right for customer satisfaction and DOGS are welcome unconditionally Thanks guys see you next time

Old quirky village pub with wooden beams and a warm welcome. Serves good food and has a small covered outside space over the quiet road. Has a good atmosphere and served a great pint of Ossett brewery's Yorkshire Blonde. Hosts a regular quiz on a Thursday evening. Plus regular events including occasionally live music.
