March 2022. After a positive experience over Christmas we decided to visit The Runner to experience their Sunday Roast. Unfortunately they had run out of the beef so we chose Pork. Delicious......and plenty of great quality meat too. Well worth it. We'll be back.
Christmas 2021. We decided not to cook a Christmas Dinner this year. Kids left home and doing their own thing and who needs 5 hours prep, 30 mins eating and a couple of hours clearing up after when there's just the tow of you. So my wife looked for dog friendly local pubs. Came across the Runner, "the most dog friendly pub in Swindon". Booked a table for Christmas Eve afternoon, selected the Xmas menu and pre-placed our order.
We arrived and were instantly made very welcome. Showed to our table and Doodle was brought her own chair to sit at the table. She's a small dog. We have NEVER come across this before, most places that are dog friendly discouraging dogs on the furniture (which we understand).
Starters were brought promptly and were delicious. Christmas dinner followed. Loads of turkey, v nice garlic roast potatoes, and some nice veg.
Cheese and biscuits, and a chocolate cheese cake rounded the meal off perfectly. The coffee was nice too.
First visit in over 10 years but it certainly won't be 10 years before we return. Many thanks to the whole team at the The Runner for a very pleasant...
Read moreI came here with my mum for lunch and we both had a wonderful experience. The inside is lovely and the staff were very welcoming to us. We were made to feel very special. We were a bit chilly, so the owner brought out a portable heater for us, so within minutes, we were toasty warm. I found their gluten-free menu to be pleasantly large and diverse.
To start, I ordered a gluten-free chicken tikka (which had a mild spice and was moist and very tasty). Mum ordered the calamari. The starters took some time to arrive, but when it was revealed that the chef had prepared the calamari gluten-free, especially for me, the delay was understood and completely forgiven. Any coeliac will know how rare it is to enjoy a plate of calamari. It was delicious. Mum had to order herself another plate of gluten calamari, which came quickly.
For our mains, we shared the halloumi salad and pan-fried salmon. Both plates were cleared. I especially enjoyed the bursts of sweetness from the diced dried pineapple and the crunch of the seeds in the salad.
For pudding, I tried their Indian carrot pudding. It is something I'll definitely be having again.
The coffee was also very nice.
We had a wonderful experience, the staff, the space, and the food all top-notch. We have plans to return next week. I'm very much looking...
Read moreWish Google let you give 0 stars tbh. Went with a group, I was the only vegan. I was assured (in very poor english) that there were a few vegan options on their new menu. I ordered a veggie pizza with no cheese, which the server said was fine. 30 mins later, the waiters brought out everyone's food bar mine. They ONLY THEN told me they can't make pizza with no cheese. I then ordered the only other vegan menu option, while my friends ate their meals. 20 mins later, the waiters told me the other vegan option was not in stock. My friends were done with their meals at this point. Sure enough, I ended up with a bowl of chips and a side salad. When my friends ordered dessert, i asked the server what vegan ice cream flavours there were, as the menu says, verbatim, "ASK YOUR SERVER WHAT FLAVOURS ARE IN". He told me he had no idea, went away to check, and then came back to tell me it was vanilla or nothing. Very blunt and rude throughout, slow service, inconsiderate of allergies, intolerances and dietary...
