The Usual Plaice — Restaurant in England

I can't never ever get a delivery slop I don't understand why I have even offered to pay petrol every time I phone up no all full delivery slop every singal time and I'm only 5 mind down the road in a car. I never make it there in time after i finsh work. don't get me wrong the food is fab everything about the chippy I like it's one of my best but I'm now having to go else where because I can never get a delivery i use to use the usual place 3 times a week spending at least 15 sometimes more, the one thing that really put me off is we got there collected our order and when we got home the lady that does delivery was 4 house down on my road delivering to someone else and it really upset me as i had to get a taxi up because they close at 7 30 i dont finsh work till 7pm , if they opened longer it would be ok they would also get much more customers . they need to get a delivery driver not some one that works in the shop. If i could get deliver or they opened longer i would aways shop there. Also last time we went i order at 7 pick up at 7.30 the food must have been laying it the hot plats for a while because the fish was hard and under it was burned we couldnt eat it also the way they put the chips in a bag we always order large and normaly they put the chips in a box where they dont go all wet from being in a bag now i have to ask every time if we manged to order in time for the food to be put into a box. I'm a little biased as I work here, but the new owners Graham and Sara have made some very welcome changes that both customers and staff alike are very happy with. Peas cooked from scratch, own recipe curry sauce and Gravy (free Gravy with every pie). Delicious home made dips, tartar, garlic mayo, BBQ and sweet chilli. Some fantastic new choices on the menu and the specials board, I can highly recommend the home made fishfingers and the Sheffield /Yorkshire fishcakes. For the vegetarians, like myself, there's plenty on the menu, cheesy been melts, cheese and onion fryits, pea fritters and the veggie burger in panco breadcrumbs (which I can highly recommend), plus our chips are cooked In a separate fryer so they are never in contact with fish or meat. Above all Graham and Sara are fantastic to work for resulting in happy staff who work really well as a team. We are also completely plastic free, paper bags and boxes, vegware pots for our dips, cans and glass bottles for drinks, ketchup and vinegar. All in all a very welcoming environment serving, as many of our customers say, the best traditional fish and chips in the local area. Ordered food for 6 people. 3 people had burgers & chips. 2 of them were with no cheese & confirmed this with the server. Drove back to sons house who we were visiting & paying for dinner & found that all burgers had cheese in. Chips were basically cold & tasted like they had been cooked the day before then recooked. Son rang to inform them of mistake & that they couldn't be eaten as 2 people were lactose intolerant. Person on phone told us to just take the cheese out & scrape the bun etc. After several attempts at trying to explain we were offered 2 burgers. Drove back to collect. By the time the remaining 2 people had their food the chips were freezing & what should've been a nice visit turned into a everyone fed up of waiting around & the evening ruined.

The person on the phone had no idea about food intolerance & needed training in this as well as in customer care. We definately won't be eating here again & felt it was a waste of money. Haven't ever given a bad review before but felt they needed to see that negative service leads to...
