I’ve never been so disgusted by the service we received here and in the end, the service resulted in us walking out.
We emailed in advance to book a table for 6 of us for a Thursday night. We were there from 8:30 to 10pm and we were served once and received 1 round of drinks, whilst the tables around us had glasses piled up on their tables from being served regularly throughout the night. During that time we approached the bar at least 4x. The final time resulted in a woman, I think with a Scottish accent coming to serve us. When she approached us she didn’t say hello, she didn’t apologise, she was extremely stand offish. On ordering, one of the girls asked what beers were on tap. The waitress mockingly laughed, and said “seriously” in a sarcastic tone that was extremely condescending and patronising which left us all speechless, awkward and uncomfortable. We were that taken aback by the treatment that we actually just walked out after she left our table.
It was honestly a horrible experience. It was our first night out after lock down. It felt like the staff didn’t care at all for us as customers. They were more concerned with the other tables ( that had far more than 6 people on each) that I can only assume were regulars since at points we saw a waiter sit down and join them on the tables briefly.
We were polite and patient but were not met with the same tone. I can understand things get busy and it’s difficult coming back after a long time shut down. But all it takes is an apology and some sort of effort to remedy the situation? Instead we were treated as major inconvenience. We were at the pub 90 minutes and received one round, which is pretty astonishing.
I don’t know who is in charge of running this pub. But customers should not be treated as we were. I hope that my review is taken seriously because it’s just not okay to treat and speak to...
Read moreI Was very very disappointed and angered by my experience at The Wellington Arms . When attending a surprise party for a friend which was being held in the side bar with my wheelchair bound mother I was very surprised that for a pub in this day and age that your wheelchair facilities are no more than disgusting. If your car park is bad enough to drive in let alone have wheelchair access which ment I had to park on the road some way from the pub only then to find when entering the pub area that the paving slabs are so uneven by the front of pub and garden that you can't get a wheelchair over them and that there isn't one door in or out of this pub which doesn't have a large step on it if it hadn't been for one kind gentleman who was drinking in the garden who after some time of me trying managed to lift the wheelchair up the step we wouldn't of been able to get in which caused unnecessary embarrassment for my mother. I wouldn't recommend this pub to anyone as it seems that if you are not able bodied then they don't want custom as the only place you can sit is the garden or by...
Read moreVisited with Children for a spot of lunch on a quiet Monday lunch time. Unfortunately the owner (I can only assume he was as didn’t introduce himself and frankly looked rather scruffy) asked us to “ask the children to keep the noise down”. The pub had 3 people in it at then time and the children were just chatting and laughing, not screaming or running riot around the pub as we would never have allowed that. The man was extremely rude and clearly just didn’t want to have children in the restaurant which was surprising as the pub boasts high chairs, a kids menu and a playground which our children were very excited to use. I do wonder whether if we have been a rowdy group of beer drinking men whether the same would have been asked of them. I doubt not. Very disappointed, very rude manager/owner, we didn’t stick around to eat which is good really as the menu was limited (everything with chips) and the toilets were disgusting, one didn’t even have a toilet seat. Not what I expected from a pub that from the outside looks lovely. AVOID unless you believe children should be seen...
