The 2nd floor room we had was huge, smartly decorated with a comfy sofa area dividing the bedroom area from the spacious bathroom. The bathroom had a large shower as well as a bath. There was a generously stocked refreshment tray on a wide, mirrored dressing table cum work desk. There was even an ironing board with iron and hairdryer in the wardrobe The rooms are well away from the lively pub and secure thanks to a modern key card system. Although it is right next to the railway station the room was well soundproofed with air conditioning/heating which was simple to control. There are a good range of ales and drinks downstairs and reasonably priced meals. My only criticism is that the free WiFi is Cloud so it isn't much use and is pretty insecure. This could be big drawback for anyone staying for any length of time if they needed it for work. Otherwise this is definitely the place to stay in Grimsby especially if you are travelling by rail.

Nice hotel and friendly staff, carpet was not the cleanest but guess that's part of the charm. The reception is also a bar, where you can get quite good drinks and a good English breakfast. I first stayed in 109, but this room is positioned directly by a double-door through which people have to go, to acces the other rooms. The constant activity by the door could be heard the entire night and kept me up, since the rooms are not that soundproof. Ended up changing rooms to 3rd floor which was much better, still a bit noisy from the outside. The cleaning of the outside area could be waaaaay better since the tables and floor are just dirty and we even saw a rat by the garbage. Rooms however where nicely decorated, cleaning was excellent, though the bed was a bit hard to sleep on. Big plus for USB sockets in the room for charging. Definitely worth a stay since it's located right by the train station of Grimsby.

First time I have ever stayed at this location. Walked past the pub on many occasions when I have stayed at other hotels but didnt look that decent. Thought I booked online and when I arrived my reservation didnt exist however the staff were very helpful and got me into one of the rooms. I was amazed how big and comfortable the rooms are and beds large and comfortable. Full marks to Wetherspoons in providing high quality rooms at budget price with helpful professional staff. My only gripe is I have been visiting Grimsby for years and never knew that Wetherspoons was hotel, start spreading the news guys!!!

I had a really bad experience at this hotel recently and I left feeling slightly traumatised. The attitude I received from the lady serving at the bar was off the scales and made me feel about an inch tall. Some people have no business working in customer service. I ordered a bottle of beer but it was almost thrown onto the table without so much as a word and without a glass. I didn’t want to swig it from the bottle so I went to the bar. There was a large queue so I waited patiently, I didn’t want to push in, even though I didn’t need any drinks.Eventually the queue went down but I’d been waiting a good 8 or 9 minutes, my food had come out and was going cold. It was my turn to be served or so I thought but the bar lady ignored me and served a man who had literally just arrived at the bar. I was annoyed but didn’t say anything. As the lady was finishing getting the man’s change I politely asked “can I have two glasses please?” for my partner and I to share. The woman turned on me with such venom and gave me such a dirty look, she snapped “You need to wait your turn!” with such attitude, I thought that’s what I’d actually been doing. I pointed out politely that I’d been waiting before the other gentleman but I was snapping at again. I should have told her that her customer service skills were appalling but I was so angry, I thanked her and walked off, she was still glaring at me and scowling as I turned away. A lesson of how NOT to speak to a customer. I won’t ever...

Only criticism is they had to keep getting my mate to move so they could get in the store cupboard behind him Great beer great food great company no trouble a great family day out Returned on Friday morning for breakfast of eggs Benedict and a cup of tea, loved it only slight problem was I asked for English breakfast tea he pointed at the stand and told me where the hot water dispenser was but they only had decaffeinated in English breakfast tea so I had twinings everyday instead Was my dad's favourite pub for many a year wasn't relishing going in without the prospect of him walking in for a pint but two of my cousins got me in after my dad's wake and I don't remember leaving the wake to get there I remember struggling with the front door lock falling through the door.dropping the keys and falling several more times including faceplanting my coffee table and losing a front tooth Many great hours spent in there with dad and Aldo with my best friend when she asked alive, once she found out about Monday club all our days out shopping were Mondays so we could shop get a paper go for a pint and food do more shopping then...
