We come to The Carvery in Poole twice a week and it has always been lovely and the staff knew us but recently all the staff that were there have left and it hasn't been as good especially the food. You are meant to be 'Home of the Roast' but you most definitely weren't on that day. I only wish I had taken photos of the food. The Lamb was all dried up and scattered around, the green beans and Cabbage were actually no recognizable and we weren't the only ones that said that. I kindly asked the carver if she could get someone to change the Veg (which she did) and the young Girl came out and stood and looked at it like there was nothing wrong with it, she then continued to stir the Garden Peas so that the 'bullet dried' peas were mixed in with the rest, why she couldn't have taken it out to the Kitchen and scooped the hard peas off the top I don't know. One of the staff were stood there with me looking at the Cabbage and Beans and peas and said that this wasn't their usual standards which I agree. Someone must have gone into the Kitchen as the young girl came out quickly and decided to take the Veg away (after I had now just put the peas on my plate) Why is it that I had to start getting stroppy before anything was done! The Manageress just kept saying 'Will you stop shouting' which I actually was not, I was raising my voice because she wouldn't listen. I asked her is it not part of her job to keep her eye on the food and let the kitchen know when it needs changing as she obviously had not been doing that. When we arrived, she was sat at a booth table chatting as there was no one coming through the doors (that is when she could have been checking on things. All I got told was the food was like that as it was there quiet time? As I said at the beginning we come to the Fleets bridge twice a week = £40 which is over £2000 a year. We had also booked for Christmas Day there with our family which we will now not be doing so that is another approximately £500 including drinks. Next time some of your staff are asked to cut their hours because it is slow, just think about this message. We won't be coming again, we will go out to Toby Carvery Hinton (bit further to travel but better). We have never had a problem over there as they are very helpful and don't stand...
Read moreAmazing charming looking restaurant with ample parking adjacent, this is my 1st visit & am staying at the Premier Inn, but if I lived in this beautiful area, I would be a several times a week diner, as the place is full of character what I briefly saw, plus the staff and the food are both of exceptional high quality!
I was made to feel so welcome even though I was alone, I was asked where I'd like to sit, I had one of Toby's unbelievable new meal & drink offers as a voucher by signing up online with them, my server went out of her way to find out what wine I could have & brought it to me, she told me how to get my meal, another server told me what direction to queue when I was unsure, then when I was served, what an amazingly friendly chef, he spoke to me all the time he was carving my roast meat, lovely man, plus all the food was gorgeous looking & boiling hot, including the utensils, he did tell me to be careful, guess what, I burnt my thumb!
The food was really delicious as was the wine, my server checked to see if everything was OK, then when I had finished, a lovely young lady named Nicky came over to introduce herself as she was taking over the section I was seated on, what an asset to them, so warm, friendly & attentive, she asked if I wanted anything else such as ice cream, but I just accepted the bill as I ate far too much, my only disappointment was the customers, who mainly all looked miserable & stared at me for being alone, which is so rude!
2nd visit today, the food was so disappointing on this visit, i waited over 5mins for the chef to arrive who was so miserable, given 2 of the smallest pieces of dried up pork I have ever seen, the mash was so powdery & the boring roast potatoes, rock hard parsnip chunk & all the veg was stone cold,...
Read moreWorst service and management! Decided to go for a quick dinner but was greeted with dirty cutlery at the table, when we told the waiter he then proceeded to only change the fork but my napkin is contaminated so I would like new set. Went to get the food which was fine but after returning to the table our drinks was still no where to be seen. Have informed another boy waiter but his reply was “I don’t serve this area” okay? But you still work there. During the meal was okay. I believed they had change shift by then so I asked the boy waiter again if he could bring us the bill since he’s the only one around. He came back with the card machine but no receipt! I’d like to know what I’m paying for. He then disappeared. Having to wait another 15 mins we asked another waitress if she could find someone who could help us paying the bill because at this I’m on the edge of walking out. The girl came back and told us to go to the bar and pay? I booked a table in the restaurant area for a reason! We then asked for the manager (waited for another 10 mins). She looked lost and had no idea what she’s doing. She is not capable of managing anything. All she said was “sorry we’re busy” busy doing what? It’s not like you’re bring the food to the table, we do that ourselves. The only service that’s needed in this place is setting up tables, clearing them and take drinks order. I have worked in many restaurants (fine dining) and this made us felt like we were beggars. All we wanted was the bill. Like would you not want to turn tables as it’s a “busy” Sunday. Overall staff were inexperienced, young and don’t have a...
