I've never left a review of any business on here, so I hope that speaks somewhat to the validity of my poor experience.
I've been here twice, the first time the burger was dry as hell and kinda sucked, but I'd never write a review on that alone. The second time however, I ordered avo on toast with a poached egg. That egg was poached until completely hard. I'd been a line chef in a cafe/restaurant for a three years, and I know both the chef poaching as well as the line chef, should check everytime to make sure that almost never happens. I don't think I ever have let plate go out with an egg so obviously cooked through. This is an easy fix for restaurant which has quite some consequence to peoples enjoyment of their meal, so I plucked up courage to go up to the manager, again something i've never done. He responded to my rather tentative feedback, with niether an apology nor a thanks for my input. It felt rather dismissive, for instance he'd already looked away prior to me finishing talking to him, as to attend back to the job he was doing.
Making mistakes and food which isnt as avertised is forgiveable, but seeming not to care for your food or your customers experience, is not. The independent restaurants in buckingham may not have the frilly fancy furnishings nor the highstreet view, but they seem to care for you a tad, and offer food which has evidently had some love...
Read moreI support a charity group called Forever Colour and we meet once a month for coffee and support of our families. Today we met here and quite honestly I would not recommend it at all. My daughter has a 8 month old baby and we asked the waitress for some boiling water to make her lunch and she was asked to speak to the “gentleman “ who refused so she returned to our table upset. We Google the topic and we were directed to section 2 of the licensing act which basically say a restaurant can refuse a request if they feel it is a safeguarding issue or a threat to a child. I returned to the bar and asked if I could order a hot cup of water to be told no but you can have some boiling water in a teapot as a “eat for 1” and be charged £2.75. I did this and asked for the teabag to be left out. Promptly returned to my table and used the water to make the babies food. At no point was the manager Elliot helpful. He did not offer any alternative so that we could feed the baby ! He was unhelpful and miserable. I would not recommend this place at all. It might be beautiful inside but the service was appalling. There were 5 of us and we all ordered drinks so it’s not like we just walked in and asked for hot water we actually were paying customers. We would have ordered lunch and stayed longer but for his unfriendly and unhelpful manor. Very poor we will...
Read moreBeen many times and keep trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. It actually started off not bad but has definitely gone down hill. Some of the problems -
Why have the sign for "please wait to be seated" if you are waiting in a virtually empty restaurant and then told to choose a seat? Ordered for a large group at the bar (with someone paying who wasn't able to access QR codes due to disability) and loads of the items were unavailable so this was painful back and forth. The last two cocktails ordered were full to the brim with crushed ice. Food has been delayed before as the chef "wasn't happy with quality" (steak is a basic). I've often been in and only had a few others tables in there so the atmosphere is almost dead. Tried to organise a meal with friends and without going into details - absolute time wasters as they were too busy for the time requested so wanted to bring our table earlier. When I happened to walk past I looked in and counted 23 people in the ENTIRE restaurant.
Do they want to survive in Buckingham? I really had high hopes as I've enjoyed all the cosy clubs I've been to but I just can't see how this business was still be running by end of 2025 without some...
