I don't usually write reviews, but after the experience we had, I feel like people need to know what they're walking into. We went last weekend for a family meal, expecting something decent. What we got was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in years.
First off, the service is an absolute joke. We had a booking, but still had to wait 25 minutes just to be seated – and no apology, nothing. Staff just walk past you like you’re invisible. Once we sat down, it took another 20 minutes just to get someone to take a drink order. The place wasn’t even that busy, just completely disorganised.
The food? Honestly, I've had better from a supermarket ready meal. I ordered a chicken tikka masala and it was just a bowl of oily, sweet sauce with maybe six tiny bits of chicken in it. Bland, no depth, and it looked like it had been microwaved. Naan was soggy, rice was dry. One of us asked for a jalfrezi and it came out tasting like curry powder dumped in tomato soup. Nothing authentic about it at all.
And the worst part – when we tried to mention some of this politely, the waiter acted like we were being unreasonable. Just shrugged and said "That’s how we do it here." No attempt to fix anything, no apology. We weren’t being rude – just genuinely disappointed. You can tell they don’t care if you come back or not, and we definitely won’t.
Also, random note but worth mentioning – the table was sticky when we sat down, and the menus looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in weeks. Not what you expect from a place that pretends to be "upmarket."
The bill came to over £90 for 3 people – and I left feeling ripped off, still hungry, and completely fed up. No atmosphere, bad food, and worse service. Total waste of...
Read moreDipalee Lounge is hands down our favourite Indian restaurant. We simply wouldn’t go anywhere else. From the moment you walk in, you’re warmly welcomed. Gaz, the manager, is absolutely brilliant - He is genuinely involved, friendly, and always making sure every guest is having the best possible time.
The food is nothing short of exceptional. It arrives piping hot, is full of flavour, clean, fresh, and completely authentic. Every dish we’ve tried has been spot on. Whether it’s a classic curry or something a bit different, it is always delicious. The team are incredibly attentive. Your drink is never empty, your food arrives just right, and they go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and happy throughout your meal.
A special thank you to Jay, who did a fantastic job of ensuring we had a lovely meal tonight. His friendly approach and attention to detail really stood out and made the evening even more enjoyable.
What really sets Dipalee Lounge apart is the atmosphere. It’s not just about eating; it’s an experience. The whole team genuinely care, and it shows in every detail. You feel valued, relaxed, and like you're in very capable hands.
We absolutely love coming here and recommend it to everyone. It’s a place you return to again and again. Not just for the food, but for the people. Thank you to Gaz, Jay, and all the team for consistently going...
Read moreWe had high hopes for Dipalee Lounge after hearing good things, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a big letdown. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt off. The welcome was cold, rushed, and we were left waiting awkwardly without anyone acknowledging us properly.
The food was far from what we expected. It arrived lukewarm, lacked real flavour, and didn’t taste fresh at all. We tried a couple of dishes, both of which felt poorly made and bland. Nothing had that authentic touch we were looking forward to. It felt more like reheated food than anything freshly prepared.
Service was inattentive throughout. We had to ask multiple times just to get our drinks, and no one seemed particularly interested in whether we were enjoying the meal or needed anything. It honestly felt like we were being ignored.
A staff member named Jay did eventually come over, but even then, it felt like a quick formality rather than genuine care. The interaction was rushed, and by that point, we’d already decided we wouldn’t be coming back.
Overall, the place felt more focused on getting tables in and out than offering a proper dining experience. It didn’t feel warm or welcoming, and we certainly didn’t feel like valued guests.
Really disappointed, especially after reading such glowing reviews. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but it was enough to put us...
