We did try getting in here last Saturday, but the queue was out on the pavement and after waiting a few minutes a very apologetic member of staff came out and said it was likely to be 35 to 40 minutes, so we ending up at Five Guys Peterborough instead. Although it was disappointing we didn't get in, the queue speaks for itself, the food is superb!
We visited this Saturday a bit later (18:45) and we were greeted immediately and shown to a table. We were primarily looked after by Nathan and he is a credit to the Company, he couldn't have been any more helpful and friendly. He spent the better part of five minutes taking us through the menu and making recommendations, based on what our preferences were. His advice was absolutely perfect.
We shared a chilli squid and vegan short rib, then had firecracker chicken and beef donburt. We don't normally do dessert, but upon Nathan's recommendation we had chocolate and ginger cheesecake and banana katsu. Drinks were ginger no-jito and blueberry spice.
I had previously been to the Wagamama in Lincoln, where I'd been equally impressed with the food, hence wanting to go as a couple and enjoy the experience. As mentioned the food is outstanding, the fire cracker chicken is already sat right at the very top of my goto dishes, I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys hot spicy food, you will not be disappointed! I was also offered an off the menu version of the katsu chicken, more chilli, which be on our next visit.
Other than the food, what made.this such an enjoyable experience was the attention we were given by Nathan, he was patient, engaging and attentive. When all is said and done, you can go somewhere and eat the most amazing food, but if the service is lousy you don't go back. To go somewhere and get first class service and amazing food is getting rare.
Speed of food to the table was also perfect with the squid arriving within five minutes.
Wagamama Peterborough - You've nailed it 100%
Update 03/12/22:
Visited Peterborough restaurant again 19:00 on a Saturday, once again a warm welcome upon entering and immediately given choices of tables to sit at. Menus and drinks arrived very quickly. Our food order was taken within five minutes of arriving and was on the table within 10/15 minutes.
One of the starters we ordered was prawn lollipops, two of these had fused together when cooking in the pan/on griddle and when my wife pulled them apart the sections of prawn that had been overlapping were grey and uncooked. We wanted another drink, so when one of the staff were passing we ordered another drink each and my wife asked if the prawns could be put back in the pan for a minute. We were told they couldn't be undercooked as they are precooked before being seared, nevertheless the prawns we had were grey in a strip were the two had been touching. They did however take them away and replace them within 10 minutes, no drinks arrived though, so when the prawns were returned we re ordered drinks and asked for the desert menu.
Another 10 minutes and still no drinks or menu, so had to ask again. After this everything ran smoothly again.
They have now introduced pay at table using a QR code in the too righthand corner of the paper placemats on the table. This takes you to a secure Web page were you manually enter your card number, expiry date and security code, along with your table number and email address. It works okay, but would be far better executed if it facilitated google pay, PayPal etc.
Once again the food was superb, other than prawngate, we felt rather disappointed with the service this time, especially as it was not particularly, or overly busy. Obviously this was probably a one off and certainly will not stop us from returning.

Read moreA mixed experience overall. While there were a few positive aspects, there were also significant drawbacks that affected my overall impression.
The diverse menu options at Wagamama offered a range of choices to suit different preferences. However, the execution of the dishes was satisfactory rather than outstanding. The food was decent, but it didn't leave a lasting impression or exceed my expectations.
The host did greet us properly and ensure a smooth start to our dining experience. While not overly warm or engaging, they did their job efficiently and created a decent initial impression.
Now, onto the drawbacks. One notable disappointment was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The wall was stained and quite disgusting, which undermined the overall sense of hygiene and cleanliness. This aspect was particularly off-putting and detracted from the dining atmosphere. (Pictures)
Regarding the service, there was a noticeable issue with our waitress. While serving our food, she seemed in a hurry to leave and we noticed her leaving shortly after attending to our table. This rushed approach may have contributed to the lack of attentive and friendly service we experienced during our meal.
It's worth mentioning that Wagamama in Peterborough is more suitable for a quick lunch or casual meal if no other place is available, rather than any occasion more special or memorable. The overall ambiance and service quality do not lend themselves well to creating a more elevated dining experience.
Finally, I must address the pricing at Wagamama. While the food was decent, the overall experience did not justify the higher prices. Comparable alternatives in the area offer better value for money, along with superior customer service and a more inviting interior.
Considering the higher prices, I would recommend exploring other options in the area for a more satisfying...
Read moreThe service was appalling, I have eaten at different Wagamamas all around the UK and never experienced poor service like this before. On new years eve we called to check if they were open, we were pleased to hear that the restaurant was open but they will be closing at 9 pm. We ordered food via the app and got to collect and one of the waitresses asked very abruptly "can you order food now as we are closing in 5 minutes" no welcome nothing. We politely said that we have already ordered and as we saw other people eating in we asked if we could eat in the restaurant we were told categorically NO, while we were waiting for our food another waitress (manager) came to ask if we wanted to have a sit or take away, to our surprise we said we would prefer to eat in. She kindly set the table for us and left the other staff member to attend us. As we were eating in we asked for a drinks menu and were told that the restaurant is closed so we cant order drinks, at NO point we were told to order drinks before the restaurant closes we assumed as we were allowed to eat in we are ok to order drinks. Our food finally started to arrive, but the waitress was not attentive at all no cutlery was laid out, at this point, we felt like we were not welcome and felt there was an atmosphere which was very upsetting as we had young kids with us so we decided to leave and take the food away with us. All in all, I would not be hesitant to visit any of your branches as this has been a very unpleasant experience...
