West Beach Cafe Bar — Restaurant in England

Harry, he was challenged for proof of age correct, he was not offered a soft drink the response was ‘well that’s a soft drink for you then’ we was having a family meal, with parents. Children who are 16 are allowed an alcoholic drink with food when with parents. Not to mentioned I ordered a pimms and was not ID’d & I am younger!! It was not explained and the tone was totally unacceptable, was this yourself as if not I don’t see how an argument is being built when you was not there to witness.

Thanks for the review, Georgia. A member of your party ordered an alcoholic drink but appeared under age. He was challenged for proof of age which he couldn’t provide. He was offered a soft drink but declined. Challenge 25 was explained to your party, then members tried to argue a case for him to be served. I told you I wasn’t going to argue, to which your party decided to leave.

Sorry if you found my tone abrupt, but my license is more important than someone potentially under age enjoying a beer.

Did I like West Beach Cafe Bar? Honestly, I'm not sure. The location is great. It was sunny, so I sat outside people watching on a sturdy table and bench, so do not know what delights or otherwise lie within. The welcome was good and the staff I met were polite, always a deal-breaker for me if they are not. The table menu seemed limited and there was not much which appealed to me, but there were olives and bread on offer and my wife and I weren't that hungry. And here is my problem: £4.00 bought me a miniscule bowl of olives; a further £2.50 saw us receive four tiny pieces of bread with butter; another fiver bought a not very generous glass of Pinot and then £1.50 for a can of fizzy soft drink. So I parted company with thirteen quid for not much. There were lots of other people who seemed satisfied with what was being offered, but I doubt we'll return when there are so many other nearby eateries who, in my opinion, offer far better...

DO NOT VISIT!!! If I could give it 0 stars, I would Visited on Saturday, and would not recommend at all!!! The experience was dreadful and the server was disgustingly RUDE! My family ordered food and a jug of pimms (a glass of this was for my 21 year old sister-in-law) & no one at the table was ID’d but as soon as my 23 year old brother asked for an alcoholic drink with his meal, the server got irate and beyond rude. Completely uncalled for and disgusting behaviour. Not once did my family argue or even try to argue, but all this one server seemed to want to do was exactly that; Argue! So we left him to have a little quarrel with himself 😂

The most unpleasant experience. Much nicer cafes/restaurants to visit...
