Very overpriced for average food, also made my friend feel awkward, because they felt like we were 'complaining' too much, my friend ordered a water to which the glass was unclean, so when he poured the water in... things floated to the top, they asked the waitress for a new glass and to replace the water and she just walked to the side and wiped the glass out with blue roll, brought it back, my friend pointed out the glass was greasy too, so the waitress proceeded to go get another glass... Which was unclean again... So my friend drank out the bottle, as we felt awkward and bad, especially because their partner felt we were complaining too much at this point Next up... The food... We ordered 2 portions of korean fried chicken... To which the order was TINY there was like... 6 small pieces the size of chicken nuggets battered and fried with a rather tasty sweet chilli sauce that i think was either gochujang or sriracha based... It was very nice but for £6:50 i would avoid like the plague considering the portion size... I ordered duck fries, that i thought to the side of one of the fried chicken would make a adequate lunch... Both were tiny portions for the 5:50 and 6:50 fried chicken... I went away feeling hungry, fortunately i didnt want to eat alot being it boxing day and i had a big dinner awaiting me that evening. Overall we payed roughly about 50 13 for the fried chicken, 5:50 duck fries, 12ish for 2 chicken katsu curry, 2:20 for the water, and 2:95 for a can of fanta and 2:95 for a can of coca cola... Yes you read that right cans charged at nearly 3 pound a drink It will be unlikely we will ever return, the service wasn't great, the food was average, it was very very overpriced and yeah... Not a great experience at all, and it made me and my friends feel awkward and bad etc, i dont even feel like i should give this a review because quite frankly? It must of just been a bad day or something and my friends and stuff... But i think out of the interests of other customers? From what i can tell according to tripadvisor reviews too......
Read moreI cannot believe this is the same Yo!Sushi I once rated so highly.
Everything from the service to the food was disappointing.
Having worked in the hospitality industry for 14 years, I’ve seen my fair share of poorly run restaurants, both chains and independents, but this experience might just take the crown as the worst.
We were seated quickly, but before I had even taken off my jacket a member of staff was already asking for our order. Keen service is fine, but this felt rushed. I politely asked for five minutes.
When we were ready, we waited at least ten minutes before anyone returned to take our order. My partner also requested a fork, as she struggles with chopsticks.
Our hand rolls arrived after about ten minutes, which was fine, they tasted as I remembered, though noticeably smaller, which seems to be the new norm of paying more for less.
We waited for a further 10 minutes before the first of our main dishes arrived. We had ordered both mains together, yet only one dish appeared, not sure why there was a delay as the restaurant was dead. Again, my partner asked for the fork she had requested earlier. The waitress apologised and left.
While waiting, we decided to take some dishes from the belt, but it was practically empty. The only options were flavoured mochi, dorayaki, and chicken katsu uramaki. No sashimi, no nigiri, no kaiso salad, none of the staples you would expect from Yo!
Eventually, my partner’s dish (seafood ramen) arrived, handed to her without the fork she had now asked for twice. When she asked again, the waitress returned with a spoon. At that point, I had to physically get up, walk over to another member of staff who was on their break, and request a fork myself.
By then we’d had enough. We tried to catch someone’s eye to ask for the bill, but the staff seemed to vanish. Strangely, the moment we stood up to put on our coats, a waitress appeared out of nowhere.
The final insult was being asked if we wanted to leave a tip.
Here’s a tip, sort out your empty conveyor belts and train your staff to do their...
Read moreLove this place, but the gyoza saga was… a lot. 😬 I’m a regular at Yo! Sushi – loyal to the core, usually ordering the same favourites every time. Sushi? Always excellent. Fries? Slightly over fried this time, but still tasty. Gyoza? Normally the star of the show… but not this time.
Yesterday, something seriously went off script. The first gyoza arrived looking like it lost a battle with a blowtorch. Completely burnt. I sent it back politely! and hoped for a better second round. Instead…Another heavily burned gyoza landed on the table, just slightly less tragic looking than the first. Still totally inedible.
Now here’s where it got really disappointing. After returning the first one, I noticed two guys in the kitchen laughing, glancing over at me and my friend repeatedly. It was so obvious, we couldn’t pretend not to see it. Super uncomfortable.
When it came time to pay, I asked for the gyoza to be taken off the bill and to be fair, they did that without fuss. I explained the issue honestly, mentioning both the burnt food and the weird vibe from the kitchen. The staff member apologized but then said, “That’s how we always make it.” Which is strange, because I’ve had gyoza here more times than I can count and it’s never looked like that. He also denied anyone was laughing, which just made the whole thing feel even more awkward. While waiting for second gyoza I noticed that this looking gyoza was served to others too.
I genuinely love this place, I keep coming back for a reason. But yesterday was a rare miss that left me feeling pretty disappointed. Here’s hoping it was just a one off cover for the kitchen staff… and that the gyoza gets some well deserved...
