York Tandoori Indian Restaurant and Takeaway — Restaurant in England

We've been using this place for 20 years + (gosh, I'm only 40, but that sounds ancient)! Anyway, it's THAT GOOD. Aesthetically it's not much of a looker admittedly, and the location isn't great, but it's one of those hidden gems. Authentic dishes, cooked spot on EVERY time and always great value too. Furthermore the front of house staff are nothing short of superb - such manners and attention to detail. They put many to shame! We travel approx 4-5 times a year to dine here, and it's approx 35-40 miles from home.... Purely because it's worth it. There's curry and there's curry, and having eaten at maybe what - 50 or more Indian restaurants in my time - not one has rivalled this place for taste. And isn't that the main reason...

Hello readers, let me tell you this Indian was excellent the server man was lovely and when I asked about having an alcoholic beverage he said 'we don't do aclcohol, sorry, but bring you can bring your own'. Flabbergasted and actually excited by this I ran to the shop a couple doors down and treated myself to some wine, brought it back to realise it was corked, was upset with myself, poor choice, but never fear, boss man had a cork screw and opened it for us, food arrived quick and prompt to the table. The food was actually amazing, very filling and just perfect. Would 1000% recomend. Delicious Indian food. Ordered a delivery take-out and it took a bit longer to arrive than stated on the web site but it was totally worth the wait. The best Indian food I've had in York, ordered lamb dansak - great portion size, tender lamb and really tasty sauce. Asked for it fairly spicy and it was perfect, not just extra chili thrown in like so many other places do but a careful addition of extra spices. The pilau rice was excellent too, long grain and obviously good quality. Some extra poppadoms too which was a nice gesture.
