I've been a customer of the Jaipur spice for many years; we have gone from regulars to visiting on a sporadic whim (as it's easy to go in while passing). Over the years the portions have gone from fully packed foil trays to plastic containers about half the size but I have never noticed a reduction in cost. As some other reviewers have said when they are on form the food is exceptional but everytime over the past year it has been very poor. Tonight we ordered a balti, Darjeeling with garlic naan and an onion bhaji starter coming in just over £25. When we got the meal home, the Darjeeling had no thickness to it and was like water. The onion bhaji were small, dry and rubbery and subsequently were fed to the bin; the balti wasn't much better. I will say I have always found the staff to be polite and friendly but that is the only positive I can say about Jaipur spice these days. Hopefully it can be turned around but I think it will be a very long time before the quality comes back to what it was and by that time I doubt we will...
Read moreWe ordered a Takeaway at 17.00 hrs on 01/01/2022 firstly we didn't receive our food until 18.20 the mains were ok nothing to write home about but we ordered 2x pickle trays 8x poppadoms and onion Bhaji to start. Having Eaten in the restaurant many times, but 1st takeaway for us i can honestky say it will be our last. The pickle tray was a joke The normal mango chutney, a thin milky substance that tasted nothing like a minted yoghurt,as for the onion tomato and coriander we literally just had onion , The poppadoms were that thin they would not come out of the bag without disintegrating into crisps, The Onion Bahji were 4 small Bahji resembling something one might get out of the fridge at your local Spar. So the Mains were by that time spoilt and disappointing as we normally enjoy our starters that much we often remark in the restaurant that we could have just had the starters. Very Disappointed. Oh by the way at £50 for a meal for two it was also expensive for such a...
Read moreAlthough the service was ok, the food was very disappointing. We were sat at a table where we could see one of the workers stashing 50-60 poppadoms in an open storage unit in the back of the restaurant. (There were one 2 other tables in while were were there and they had already ordered). There is no way these would have been eaten that night.
We ordered out curries and also a keema naan and a kulcha naan. Both came as very flat, perfectly round breads. No way on this earth they are cooked fresh in restaurant…. They are 100% shop bought in and warmed up here.
Also the beef in the curry was 70%gristle and the remaining meat was tough as old boots.
We mentioned all this to the waiter, who apologised and said he would have a word with the chef and said he had given us a discount to apologise ?not that we asked for one). The discount was for under £3.00, which really just wasn’t worth the effort.
Sadly we have been put off enough to say we will never be going back for a...
