I tried this place for the first time a couple of days ago and I've never had such mixed feelings for leaving a review! To start with we ordered to collect and when we went to pick up our food we were welcomed warmly by very friendly staff. We ordered a Chicken Changasi, a Veg Korahi, Pilau Rice, Lemon Rice & some chips. To start with I've never heard of a "Changasi" this was my first time trying this dish. I've had "Garlic chicken curry" before but nothing like this. I honestly have to say this is the best takeaway curry I've ever had in my life. I'm from Manchester where we have a lot of Asian communities and with that an abundance of Indian restaurants and takeaways. We even have the famous "Curry Mile" in Rusholme. I've tried hundreds of curry's from all over Manchester, some not so good and also plenty of great places. I was not expecting to come to Cornwall and find the best curry I've ever had but this is exactly what I've just had from Zamans! I've never had anything like it. The chicken quality was lovely. The garlic flavour was balanced perfectly with the medium spice from the dish. There's flavours I've never even experienced I have no idea what herbs we're used to make this dish but it was absolutely incredible! Easily the best curry I've ever had and I'm craving it again just thinking about it! I had it with the lemon rice which was also absolutely delicious. Not too zingy but perfectly balanced and seasoned. The lemon and garlic flavours really complimented each other. Also the chips were lovely and thick, cooked to perfection.. crispy coating with fluffy potato inside. Also a generous portion that was easy to half to accompany both curries. This is unfortunately where the review turns on its head and unfortunately things go down hill... My missus did not enjoy her Korahi at all. She was not impressed. She said it was awful and flavourless. The only praise she had was a nice variety of vegetables. I was sat next to her eating the best curry ever whilst she was completely disappointed in hers and I was wondering if she was exaggerating. I had to try some to see if it really was bad and unfortunately I had to agree with her. To start with the sauce was very thin. Then the actual flavour just wasn't there. Something was missing. Some seasoning or salt or herb or paste. Not quite sure what it was but the curry was honestly so bland and dissapointing. It's still sat in the fridge now 2 days later because she wants to buy a supermarket jar of sauce to add to it so it's not wasted. I was in complete disbelief that a curry so incredible and a curry so dissapointing could come out of the same kitchen. I've never experienced inconsistency like it. Usually you might get a 7/10 dish and an 8/10 dish. This was a 10/10 dish and a 5/10 dish. I really wanted to give a 5 star review especially from my own experience but including my partners experience it brings it overall to a 7/10 unfortunately. When you spend £30+ on a takeaway and half of it gets put in the fridge it's a little dissapointing sadly.

We had a little trouble trying to book a table for an evening meal anywhere when we arrived in Newquay. We tried Zaman's online booking service and the restaurant called us promptly to book us in. When we arrived, we received a warm welcome and were taken to our table in a pleasant environment and atmosphere. The customer service was exemplary, with staff going above and beyond to make us feel welcome and valued. Our waiter recognised our accents and utilised his brilliant and personable customer service skills to strike up appropriate conversation. In addition to the customer service, we enjoyed a delicious meal, which arrived half an hour after we ordered. In the meantime, we were offered poppadoms and a chutney tray. We both opted for the jalfrezi, one chicken and one prawn. We also had onion bhajis, a cheese naan, a peshwari naan, pilau rice and chips. Excellent experience overall; would definitely recommend.

By far the best Indian we have ever had - not hard to see why they have won awards! The service was spot on, very efficient and all needs catered to. The server was very friendly and accommodating, happy to pass on recommendations and engage in conversation. The portions of food were very generous and full of flavour, the chicken was succulent and melted in the mouth. We enjoyed the Chicken Madras, Korma, Biryani, Pilau and Steamed Rice, Nan Breads, Japati, Tandori Sheesh Kebab and poppadoms. All were some of the best we've had - having eaten at many top Indian Restaurants before, we all agreed this was likely best yet. The prices are good and fair, you can tell that each dish is cooked with passion and only the best food is sent out. Would have no hesitation in returning and intend to on our next Holiday here. Thank you to all the team at Zamans

I’m Baffled! I can’t understand how this restaurant has received so many good reviews. I only visited because of the google reviews which are an exaggeration of the truth. I visited the restaurant a few days ago. I arrived at 8.15 and was served food at 9.35. The service was absolutely terrible. The waiters kept saying the food was coming and kept trying to bog us off with buying more drinks. There aren’t even that many tables in the restaurant so can’t understand why it was taking so long to make the food! One man who had ordered a take away had waited two hours for his food. The restaurant should prioritise people seated.

The food is tasteless and basic. Definitely not fresh, the kebabs tasted rubber like and there was a lack of spices in the chicken curry and in the food in general. Definitely no chilli in anything and the chicken was so sweet! The restaurant charge for the poppadoms which I thought were complimentary and also charge for the sauces served with these- extortionate price of £2.45 for the sauces which they removed from the table once the food arrived. I ordered chips which came out over cooked and in the smallest dish known to man. The portions in this place are so small it’s ridiculous.

I thought I would be getting some authentic Indian food but this was far from it. Maybe I am being a little harsh coming from London and having Indian restaurants on the doorstep but the food was tasteless and super over priced. I wish I had gone to the local McDonald drive thru and saved myself some £.

What was cheeky is the waiter was going around asking people to leave good reviews. He didn’t approach me and I wonder why. The service and food was unbelievably bad and I just want people to know so they save their tastebuds and...

We were very disappointed with the taste of the food and quality of cooking. After waiting 2.5 hours for a takeaway order as restaurant was very busy the food was not eaten by anyone in the family. The vegetable dish was possibly one of the worst I have ever tried I could not eat it... my husband who will usually eat most things said the mixed grill was bland and tasteless. My sons refused to eat the paratha saying it was soggy and odd tasting (they love paratha otherwise and eat it whenever we eat out) my chapati was undercooked

Despite asking for medium.to hot for all food ordered there was no spice in sight or taste utterly bland food that would struggle to be classed even as mild

The chicken was red orange ... always a warning sign if you eat out usually only see this colour in restaurants that don't know or don't want to cook chicken tikka properly. Chicken tikka should never ever by red! Over usage of food coloring in everything

Meat was not fresh. It was rubbery tasteless and utterly bland. I don't understand how this place has 4 stars. I would only give it 1 or 0 if I could

The raita chutney tray comprised only 2 chutneys of which we were given multiple portions i assume as they were busy they ran out so doubled up on whatever was left. I assume this was the case as over £2 for 2 chutneys doesn't really justify calling it a chutney tray however they still charged fully for it I was only able to eat the poppadoms and the mango chutney. My children also were only happy to eat poppadoms Husband barely ate anything

Sorry Zamaan we are from Manchester the hub of high quality amazing Indian food and your food was no comparison to food there Would not recommend this...
