Myself, with a party of 13 attended for Father’s Day. We were all largely disappointed with the food and service we received.
First of all, the pizza dough was not cooked. None of the adult parties ate more than two slices of pizza. The fillet steak was not seared and tasted as though it had been boiled. The fish was watery and flavourless. We ordered a coffee with our deserts, this did not arrive until after we’d received the bill. We asked for children’s menus and were assured any adult adult dish would be a smaller portion... which would have been fine if we weren’t still charged with an adult fee. None of the waiters asked if there was anything wrong with the food despite large portions being left at the end of the meal- and there was no check back whilst we were dining.
We did complain to the staff at the restaurant when our plates were collected. All we were told was “thank you- I’ll make a note of your comment.”
As someone who has frequented the restaurant (and who paid a substantial bill) I have to say I’m disappointed, as were the other guests.
Generally a more than underwhelming experience with staff who did not seem the slightest...
Read moreVisited with family yesterday. Was seated in the corner of the restaurant with our kids. We noticed that once everyone was seated they were given complimentary bread. More time went by and our order was taken. Before we even said anything, they asked if we wanted to have our starters and mains brought out at the same time, this turned out to be a good thing mind you as the wait time was shocking. Made us feel that due to having kids with us they wanted us in and out. The food was okay, wasn’t the worst, wasn’t the best. We then ordered our dessert, which was just two scoops of ice cream. After they took our order for dessert we asked for the bill as we knew it would take forever. 20 mins go and we ask how long it would be and they didn’t even know we had ordered or what was going on. 10 minutes later we finally got our ice cream. The service was absolutely shocking, no communication between staff, no communication with their paying customers, nothing. It was almost like they had forgot about us as sat away from everyone else. The service alone makes us never want to visit again. Changes...
Read moreThe old William IV pub is a delightful building, retaining all it's character from its heyday. We visited the Neopolitan Kitchen only once, as the service and food were awful. As we saw the restaurant had been re-named we thought we'd try it again. As we saw very positive reviews we were looking forward to it. We visited Saturday evening and were surprised to see it less than half full, so why it took so long to receive a simple starter of meatballs, we couldn't understand. Simple tomato sauce, questionable if it was fresh and the meatballs suspiciously like those in a supermarket. All obviously pre-made and could have been heated and served in minutes. The lamb cutlets were equally unimpressive with no seasoning, served with french beans and 'Mashed' potato??? Since when were mashed potato an Italian speciality? The paccheri pasta with Italian sausage and broccoli was uninspiring with the pasta too aldente' for my liking. On the plus side, the mushroom risotto was amazing and the side of zucchini fritters were very special. Beautiful old pub, sadly everything else...
