Being in this area of Exeter for a few days, I decided to have dinner in this pub one evening. It was such a fortunate decision. I came back to the same place until the end of my visit. The food is simply exquisite, with a wide availability of different specialties. I enjoyed a chicken-based dish and a savoury sea bass fillet; my best meal there was a vegan Wellington with walnut sauce on a bed of baked potatoes, an absolute must-have. I also had a Christmas yule log that was excellent too. In addition to food, the staff was extremely kind and friendly: I loved talking to them. The atmosphere in the pub was so cheerful, with live music and/or quizzes, lots of nice people, and Christmas decorations.

I went to the July 2019 Meet The Brewer evening at the TH, this time it was Jim from Quantock Brewery, Bishops Lydeard near Taunton who introduced us to some of their lesser known brews & told us about the brewery & their award winning beers. The landlord Paul explained the interesting food dishes that he & his chef had prepared to compliment each of the beers. The usual six beer's & six dishes were enjoyed by the 40ish customers who had booked a places at this popular event.

Historic looking pub in Exwick not far from the Exe. Friendly and helpful staff with many gluten free and vegan options plus real ale. Pleasant atmosphere and they turned the music down a bit for us. The Aubergine & chickpea stew with flatbread was good and the ribs looked massive. Moderate but reasonable prices though with a 10% optional service charge added to the bill. Plenty of street parking close by.

I've been coming here for a couple of months now, as part of the Exeter Steampunk group that meets here for a bit of a social every Thursday evening, and a slightly larger meeting on the first of each month, for drinks, food, chat, and a couple of games.

Last night (3rd April) coincided with the pub's real ale festival, and I got to sample two or three of quite frankly the best ales I've ever tasted: Gert Coconuts and Summer That (or something like that, I forget) were the best of those I tried. Who knows, maybe the other ten were better yet? The festival is on over the weekend, so do go along and try them for yourself.

I accompanied these gert lush drinks with what has to have been the best steak I've ever eaten in a pub setting. Seriously good; a big doorstep of quality beef, perfectly cooked, served with nicely done crispy chips and peas and a blue cheese sauce.

The staff are friendly and already know me by name; service is always quick and efficient; the facilities are clean and well maintained; and, come the summer, there's a garden.

It's also very dog-friendly (I counted 5) with the staff bringing out treats for the regular furry friends.

I gather they have live music there from time to time (having spoken to Rupert and Adam of 5 Brothers 2 Mothers in...

We love this pub!! Everyone who works there is so friendly, and our little dog is absolutely spoilt when we visit - it's definitely his favourite pub too!

The drinks are excellent and the beers seem to be different each time we visit (plus you can have them in Thirds, so all the more to sample!). The food is deeeelicious, whatever you choose it's always so tasty, and there's lots of choice - we enjoyed duck pudding and beef stroganoff on the specials menu this time, beautifully cooked and presented as always!

We've been for the Carvery a few times too, and that is also amazing! My parents always want to go here whenever they visit too, and they say how lucky we are to have such a great pub nearby. Looking forward to our next...

The lady manager didn’t even apologise!
