Organised a surprise birthday lunch and Truffles were very accommodating in arranging to reserve a large table as well as offering us a couple of child friendly meals too. We were not only the first to arrive at the restaurant but the last to leave and were made to feel welcome throughout the whole meal. We enjoyed three courses of some of the tastiest food I’ve had in a long time. The kitchen staff are extremely talented in their menus. The hosting staff were attentive without being intrusive and all of us would definitely recommend and return again. Loved it! #greatFood #fareham #eatOut

Exquisite flavours in Fareham's best restaurant. We came on a Saturday night celebrating our wedding anniversary. We ordered the rillete that came with a fantastic flavoursome chutney, and the quail on tabbouleh that was perfection. A wonderfully cooked sirloin steak and monkfish made up the mains. The dish quality and attention to detail belie the unassuming frontage. The whole vibe is relaxed. The waitress was attentive and very well informed, accommodating our requests and making gentle suggestions to improved our meal.

This restaurant is superb. I loved every bite. I had a friendly and courteous welcome from the waitress and the food was delicious. Each dish was art on a plate and the flavours were just right. The only thing I could slightly fault was the Brownie dessert. The texture was not quite right but the flavour was nice. The red wine was fantastic and the desert wine was very nice too. It was a tiny bit cold inside the restaurant when I arrived. Luckily they sat me next to a radiator so I soon warmed up.

We have been here for a wonderful meal before but this time was a huge disappointment where I think the cost of living crisis has impacted the previous high standards and overall dining experience. The restaurant had a musty smell and it was actually quite cold in the restaurant, heating was absent.Took ages to thaw out that night. There was very little atmosphere, no quiet background music on and only one other couple in the restaurant who sat at a table so near, we could hear their conversation and it made us feel like we didn't want to talk. It wasn't a nice, relaxed experience at all. Along with the food, the atmosphere is part of the experience. One lady serves and whilst she is polite and friendly, there was little professionalism, dressed in jeans and jumper, like she had just been shopping, it doesn't fit the image of the restaurant. We all understand child care issues happen but it didn't feel right that the owners child followed mum around whilst serving and the lovely young lady needed attention whilst sat doing her colouring at another table. So, the food, after all that is important: a very limited menu and my first choice wasn't available. Our meal was well presented, smaller than previous portions and a lot of beans as a ratio to meat. Flavour was pleasing .

Truffles could be fabulous again but the owners need to quickly reassess if they are to regain repeat custom and not permanently diminish their previous good reputation. Sadly the experience has put us...

We dined at Truffles in Fareham high street on a cold Saturday night in February, but from the moment we walked in we felt warmed by the atmosphere and the very polite lady who served us for the evening. After ordering drinks we then got seriously into discussions on what to have. The starter of fish cake with a beautiful sauce and red lettuce was a strong start which I didn't want to end. My main course of belly of pork tasted absolutely sumptuous with carrots and a lightly mashed potato, haggis and stuffing all with a gravy that just kept giving. Yes the decor is a little run down but did not distract from the very high quality of dishes available. My wife had the venison as a main meal and it was superb, I shall try that next time. A great restaurant, do...

A quaint family run restaurant with delightful decor (art work can be purchased). Very welcoming and attentive hostess who remembered our order without needing to write it down The salmon starter was superb - so flavoursome, and I liked that the hostess was able to identify the ingredients when asked. Main courses were superbly cooked, venison and lamb were so tender and beautifully presented with selected vegetables. Sweets were equally tempting and well presented and the whole ambience of the place gave a delightful evening. I definitely recommend and would revisit when next visiting . For parking, there was a free (after 6pm on Saturday) public car park up the road and round the corner...
