Went for lunch to this ancient pub in Hythe High St. It was a quiet day but I was welcomed by the landlord and offered to sit wherever I liked. The pub benefits from a real log fire so I sat in that area. I ordered chicken breast with vegetables and a tarragon sauce. It was an ok meal but my chicken was a bit dry and overcooked, not enough to complain about but just a bit average overall. The atmosphere was a little lacking but I think it's just because it was a very quiet day.

Incredible authentic Thai food, great atmosphere and Singha beer on tap. The papaya salad was out of this world good - and the Pad Thai was equally delicious - both really beautifully presented as well. The garden is awesome - with plants and a greenhouse - banana plants for sale as well. Overall, a really lovely place for Thai food, the owners have done an awesome job and I look forward to going back here. Totally recommend this place

I loved it the people were friendly and the food was amazing. I ordered the "pad preaw" it's like a thai sweet n' sour and it was the best I've ever had. You have a choice of either chicken/pork duck/king prawn/beef or the mix vegetables. It's also served with a rice dome which is nicely presented overall amazingly good experience. ps: there is a very friendly white husky dog

The chef was Simon Evans. Whilst he is modest I’m sure you will agree the guy has got talent. It’s a simple menu, traditional and very British. Extremely underpriced and a beverage that would cost nearly 8.00 in Canterbury was hovering around 3.00 in Hythe. I had to meet Simon and thank him for his hardworking efforts. Most chefs never rest and it’s a marketplace that is grossly underpaid for the skill. I ate two veggie patties in a brioche bun with Stilton as a extra, including deep home fried onion rings and a side salad - l’m not normally a fan but it was exceptional. I started with cream and wild mushroom soup and baguette. Pauline had a tradition prawn cocktail, what could have been achieved with langoustine? She remarked it was very good. We had no room for desert, but were offered a classic Baileys cheesecake. We enjoyed the evening out. The meal came to approximately 35.00. We paid 40.00 and left 20.00 behind the bar for the chef and his staff....

Lunch time Birthday lunch was booked for Friday 8th April, booked for 9 people over the telephone, we all turned up at 12 o’clock looking forward to our get together, we all stood there for 25 minutes waiting for them to open up but premises were locked. We rang there bell, knocked on the window, telephoned them but no answer, all the lights were on inside & there menus board was outside. Even if it was an Emergency happened surely they could have put a notice on window explaining why they were closed. It was a cold day, plus parking in Hythe is so bad and expensive, we found a Restaurant that was very obliging for 9 people & we told them about the disgraceful behaviour of The Kings Head, & they told us that it was always happening. Why are they getting away with this ? They have definitely lost our custom as won’t go there...

We were a large group who descended on the Kings Head for a pre wedding day meal and get together. We found the menu to have a very good selection of well priced dishes and, despite our large number, the staff coped very well with our various food orders. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and the food was plentiful and of a very good quality. There was live music on the Friday night we were there which was rather loud, and made it difficult to have a discussion with the person next to you, let alone at the other end of the table, but aside from that we had a great evening and particularly appreciated the hard work and friendliness of...
