We recently visited The Truffled Pig in Hythe. As soon as we entered we were offered a table which was by the front door. The front door was kept open and as it was cold so we asked a member of staff if it could be shut. They said they would speak to their manager to which another member of staff came and closed the door. The door was then reopened by a member of staff. I spoke to them and mentioned that we asked for it to be shut and the manger did as it was cold. She replied abruptly and said that she was the manager. By this time we had moved to a different table away from the door. She then went to shut it. We had been waiting a long time and no one came to take our order. I asked a young gentleman if we had to order at the till or if it was table service, he said that he would take our order. A while later he could only find large cups rather than small ones. The manger said there were small cups which needed to be washed up. He looked very frustrated by the way she had spoken to him. There were also two new members of staff who looked quite stressed. The manager was unpleasant, abrupt and rude which is a shame as the coffee shop looked quite pleasant. We will not...
Read moreWe’ve enjoyed coffee here and decided, because of the pleasant atmosphere and staff and varied menu we would visit for breakfast. Unfortunately things did not go as planned nor expected. We were pleasantly greeted and soon ordered coffee and our breakfast meals. Coffee soon arrived and we awaited our food. Some 10 minutes after our arrival another couple sat at a nearby table and soon ordered their breakfast similar to ours. A little over 10 minutes later their meal was served but we still awaited ours. We queried why they were being served before us and we’re apologised to and told our meal would soon arrive.Over 10 minutes later our meal eventually was served. Sadly this did not meet our expectations. The plates were cold and some 75% of our food was already cold! By now we were pressed for time so ate what we could and paid and left. The cashier asked how our meal was and we politely but firmly explained our total disappointment and dissatisfaction and said we would vote with our feet. We had hoped this would become a regular haunt as we live locally. Sadly not!!
We are very pleased to report that after correspondence with Clare and a visit for breakfast again our dissatisfaction has been nullified totally. We will be more than happy to put The Truffle Pig back on our go to places and recommend it to our family...
Read moreWe came here for Mothers Day afternoon tea and were completely blown away by the food, and the service and the atmosphere.
The afternoon tea was so special and unique, little chocolate flower pots for example - it was simply delicious. All the mums/grandmums also got some chocolates to take home.
They were so wonderful to my daughter too, really warm and welcoming. We can't wait to come back to sample...
