Absolutely disappointed ☹️ with our meal tonight. After a hard day's work in the garden we thought we'd go out for a meal rather than cook. We were ravenous on arrival and were disappointed with the long wait to order seeing as it was a Monday. We chose tempura prawns (and did ask the waitress if they'd be enough to share for a starter which she said yes it would be plenty) followed by noodle dishes with a special request of no onions or garlic in the main for my husband. Again a rather long wait with only four tables in the restaurant the tempura prawns arrived. They resembled 4 matchsticks on the plate with a tad of side salad, which we thought rather stingy for £8. After more waiting the mains arrived. At a first glance all looked quite nice until my husband saw red onion on the side salad thennnn spring onion sprinkled on his noodles. Instantly we told the waitress and we were told by a member of the kitchen staff that they'd make a fresh dish. The new dish arrived within 3 minutes. Feeling even more ravenous we began eating but then half way through my husband starting to find spring onion. Asked if our food was okay we said NO because they hadn't made us a fresh dish but instead picked off the spring onion. The lady from the kitchen did apologize and said would we like some discount to which we replied we wouldn't like to pay for his meal. She went to ask the manager but came back with a 10% offer. So overall customer service was shocking because the manager couldn't even come out to discuss but hid in the kitchen. Also when coming online to find reviews for the restaurant we learn that the tempura prawns are most likely bought from Iceland. I looked them up and yes same ones, ten in a box for £2. Absolutely won't be going in there again as nothing authentic about...
Read moreVisited Thailand Tom in Hythe for our anniversary dinner and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations.
We arrived around 7pm on a quiet Thursday night. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but the greeting was cold and unwelcoming. The woman at the bar seemed annoyed we were there and only reluctantly seated us. Thankfully, another staff member later came over who was friendly and took our drinks order.
We had seen a sign outside advertising cocktails, but were told the person who makes them wasn’t in. It’s confusing to advertise cocktails if they aren’t reliably available.
Food was mixed: prawn crackers were nice, the sweet chilli sauce was decent (likely bottled), but the peanut sauce had no flavour. Duck spring rolls were hot and crispy but lacked much duck. My sizzling prawns were a highlight—they came out properly sizzling and tasted fine. The plain noodles were exactly that—dry and obviously from a packet. My wife’s rice was actually cold, and her pork dish was barely warm. They brought hot rice when we complained, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. The pork was also quite tough.
After finishing, we were left sitting for a while and felt forgotten. When I went to pay, I mentioned the cold rice and suggested they remove the charge. They refused, insisting we ate it—even though we only ate the second portion they brought. That was disappointing.
Overall, it felt like we were more of an inconvenience than guests. A couple of positives, but not enough to...
Read moreWe ordered food for collection and amongst others there was a pad thai with vegetables. When we discovered that the pad thai contained a few pieces of chicken, we called them to tell them that they made a mistake and our vegetarian family member is starving. Our receipt clearly said it was vegetable pad thai, and they also confirmed that the order they received was vegetable pad thai, but all they could offer was they will make us free pad thai next time. So I confronted that we are not planning to go back there after this and asked for a refund. They were very adamant about the refund (that they don’t do refunds!) and offered either we come back to the restaurant again in this cold weather (when everybody’s sat down for dinner) to collect FREE pad thai (how generous of you!) or come back tomorrow with pad thai to prove that it contains chicken and then they can refund.
We didn’t call you to lie about it. There was not even a single word of “sorry”. It was meant to be a happy family reunion dinner and my poor vegetarian sister had to starve and prepare her own meal when everybody was having their meal. We quite liked your restaurant (and have been there several times) but not anymore. Not the kind of service that I expected to see in a...
