Taste of Kathmandu — Restaurant in Folkestone and Hythe District

I've just had to search for this restaurant and can't believe I didn't leave a review. I found it, so I don't make the same mistake again. Exactly one year ago, i dropped in to enjoy an Indian. I ordered what I'm familiar with. When the food arrived, i didn't recognise one of the dishes. Id asked for Chana Masala. What arrived didn't look like it at all. I enquired about this. I was told that the Chana Masala is now made with black chick pease. As they are healthier? It didn't taste or look like Chana Masala. This was the least of my worries. The next day, I arrived in Germany. Four nights camping at a wine festival. I have never been so ill. I won't go into detail. But, it wasn't nice. Completely ruined my short holiday. I have two Nepalese restaurants in my home town of maidstone. They are excellent. I thought I'd try Kathmandu last night, with two favourites of mine. Black lentils and a lamb tarkari. I was disappointed. The curry had lots of tender meat, but was dry. No sauce to speak of at all. I asked for a bit of sauce to wet it up a bit and was charged £5.75 for it. I refused to pay for that and it was removed from the bill. The lentils had very little of the flavour I'm used to. And a portion of lentils was nearly £12!!! Seriously!? In all, for 2 people with 3 beers, £78 without the service charge and with the charge for the sauce removed. Absolutely not worth it. Rather bland....

First time, takeaway. I was impressed by the vegetable balti. Had nice fresh vegetables which were nicely cooked not mushy soup like most Indians I've tried recently. Had a real depth of flavour, very nicely spiced. Will be trying other dishes from here, would recommend giving them a try. Will add more to review. Just updated review to 5 stars. Now visited 4 Times each as good as the last. Veg is always fresh and firm. Well spiced and tasty. Wife tried chicken tikka massala and would recommend also.
