I was given a voucher for two afternoon tea with prosecco when I retired from the NHS at the end of March. I was away in April then busy every week during the summer with grandchildren so I put the envelope aside until September when I hoped to take a friend. I noticed that there was an expiry date of 11 March so I went to the cafe at 10am to enquire if I could extend it. Althe Open sign was showing it was hyt. There were no opening times displayed just a phone number which didn't reply when rung. I regulated to find an empty cafe. I explained that I didn't notice the expiry date and was told in an abrupt manner that they operate like supermarkets. They are an independent cafe and I was only a couple of weeks over. I now know why they were empty and will never frequent the cafe...
Read moreBefore me and my husband got a chance to sit with our dog, we were told that there was no seating and there was an event so we went to the really nice and relaxed place for food and great coffee opposite them called The Little Place Next Door. Which was fine.
However we saw less than 30 minutes later that they seated two elderly women who were browsing the menu for 5 minutes and didn't look like they had a reservation before they were let in and sat down.
Update: another elderly woman was sat down not long after and was also similarly browsing
If you're going to say there's an event - put a sign on the window and don't use it as a means to "selectively choose...

The food was lovely we had the bacon brie and avacado sandwiches which were lovely, the cakes were too good that we got a few more slices to bring home. A lovely venue a nice atmosphere and will be sure now to visit a few more times with some friends when they come to visit, very close to the shops to so its nice to do a bit of shopping before or after a visit...
