I was given a voucher for two afternoon tea with prosecco when I retired from the NHS at the end of March. I was away in April then busy every week during the summer with grandchildren so I put the envelope aside until September when I hoped to take a friend. I noticed that there was an expiry date of 11 March so I went to the cafe at 10am to enquire if I could extend it. Althe Open sign was showing it was hyt. There were no opening times displayed just a phone number which didn't reply when rung. I regulated to find an empty cafe. I explained that I didn't notice the expiry date and was told in an abrupt manner that they operate like supermarkets. They are an independent cafe and I was only a couple of weeks over. I now know why they were empty and will never frequent the cafe...

Before me and my husband got a chance to sit with our dog, we were told that there was no seating and there was an event so we went to the really nice and relaxed place for food and great coffee opposite them called The Little Place Next Door. Which was fine.

However we saw less than 30 minutes later that they seated two elderly women who were browsing the menu for 5 minutes and didn't look like they had a reservation before they were let in and sat down.

Update: another elderly woman was sat down not long after and was also similarly browsing

If you're going to say there's an event - put a sign on the window and don't use it as a means to "selectively choose...

We visited Annas for a lovely afternoon tea, the staff we're very friendly uoin arrivals and very accommodating through our visit. The food was lovely we had the bacon brie and avacado sandwiches which were lovely, the cakes were too good that we got a few more slices to bring home. A lovely venue a nice atmosphere and will be sure now to visit a few more times with some friends when they come to visit, very close to the shops to so its nice to do a bit of shopping before or after a visit...

This place has a very homely vibe to it. You feel more like you're visiting your aunt, rather than a public venue. It's called a tearoom and a gin house, and true enough - they do have a good selection of both! Full English breakfast is seriously tasty and at reasonable price. Very friendly staff, and they have tables in the back garden too!

We had the Signature Afternoon tea (£15). Delicious choices for everything from the sandwiches, scones, jam, cake, cold drinks and hot drinks. All of which was fresh and tasty. Great value considering the amount of food (they offered to parcel up the leftovers) and the quality. Friendly and quick service despite being busy.

Lovely cream tea, great friendly service and good value. Plenty of jam (strawberry, raspberry or cherry), and a good portion of clotted cream too. Scones were fresh and still warm with choice of one fruit or plain. A decent filter coffee instead of tea. Grand total of £11.90 for two people.
