Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Gedling

The app doesn’t work properly. Wanted a half and half but the boxes were just white and couldn’t click on anything so had to get something else.

I did want the sausage and pepperoni they used to do but that doesn’t exist anymore and seemingly they’ve downgraded their ingredients and the nice slices of sausage that used to be available are now some flavourless generic balls of mince.

I ended up ordering the works and chose to swap out mushrooms for jalapeños and ordered an extra special garlic dip and we also ordered chicken poppers and cheesy jalapeño bites.

It’s fair to say it wasn’t good in any aspect. The swap I had done didn’t seem to have gone through properly and we apparently ordered 2 extra garlic and herb dips rather than 1 extra special garlic dip so another issue with the app.

The pizza seemed to have been cut with their eyes closed with half of the slices massive and half really small. The pizza it self was actually flavourless to say the number of ingredients there were, the dough was soggy and stuffed crust also flavourless.

The cheesey jalapeño bites were soggy and did not taste of cheese and resembled the sort of quality you’d expect from a discount freezer shop likewise the chicken poppers were soggy with the batter just wiping off the chicken which was also very low quality.

Not really sure what’s happened over the last few years but the quality of products seems to have drastically declined and I would say pappa John’s is now worst in class.

This place is just so hit and miss, hence the inconsistent reviews. 83 orders over the past 3 years so I really have given them a good chance! Sometimes the pizza is delivered in a reasonable time and it's perfect, in fact absolutely amazing. Other times (sadly, a lot more times) it takes ages and/or it's cold and/or overcooked, or truly burnt (brownies sometimes burnt so bad they're like concrete), or they forget something or deliver the wrong thing. Phoning usually doesn't get you far. The app is nonsense, it'll tell you your pizza has been delivered half an hour or more before it actually is. Drivers always nice and friendly at least. But tonight's order was the last straw and there are too many bad experiences for me to want to...

AVOID AVOID AVOID - Ordered 2 pizzas, they took 90 mins to arrive, both were wrong. They told me they'd get replacements out ASAP, after waiting another 90 mins I called again and was told they'd been sent out but they don't know what happened to them. The phantom replacement pizzas never did turn up. They promised to send them again. Third time lucky and more than 3 hours after placing my order, the pizzas arrived, about 10 mins before bedtime, and they were STILL bloody wrong (even the FREE side sent as an apology was wrong) I gave up and went to bed.
