Saturday Night. 2 stars at a push. Door Staff, uneducated about their job, scruffy, absolute joke! Entered at 22.30 wearing a baseball cap, trainers and trackies. Was let in, doorman looked me up and down and let me in. Rude bar staff asked me to remove my cap, even though you can clearly see my face yet numbers of people with hats on etc, no questions asked!!! Went for some fresh air. Security refused entry because of my trackies!!! Even after letting me in 30 minutes prior after looking at me up and down! Couldn't be bothered to argue with the idiots. 95% of people I attendance were severely dressed down... then to be refused access after being granted access is a little bit dumb. Security need educating, if it's a policy for The Goose you cannot wear trackies then make it noticeable... I have been here many times and never had an issue with wearing trackies. Never had an issue wearing a cap! This night was a joke! But handful of guys wearing beanies, santa hats pulled down covering the forehead is allowed... hmmmm.... my cap was lifted... face clearly visible... Security already granted me access...hmmmm
Music was good. Drinks.... now... ordered a double... clearly I asked for a double.. watched her pour a single, she gave a rolled eye when asked to correct it for a double...
Toilets are nasty...yes I know its busy, yes I know its a bar/club... just nasty!
The amount of drinks spilled from the bar areas all over the dance floor is a mess! Witness 3 people buckle due to this.. yes.... again its a bar/club.... there seems to be no control of anything in there.
Could be a lot better..... Alot...
Read moreWent into Goose Gravesend on Sat evening with 8 other friends around 8 PM. We spent a good 2-3 hours having drinks and enjoying a night out until , after going for a cigarette a good 5-6 times for the evening one of our companions was not allowed to return inside the premises after being asked for identification and presenting his National ID card , he was not allowed to return with our group due to not being an acceptable form of ID to enter the premises. Bare in mind a National ID card is an acceptable form of identification on UK border control to enter UK , also we ve been going to Goose in Gravesend for 8+years never having an issue before with this form of identification . Even after our entire group tried to convince the female security guard for a good 10 minutes that this is unacceptable , as he has a valid ID , and we have been going in and out of the premises for the past 3 hours after spending a good 200£ inside , not causing any trouble , furthermore being seated on the right hand side upon entering the Pub, in plain sight . This sort of treatment is absolutely unacceptable and has ruined our first night out in the new year . After 8 years of being good paying customers and having no issues I can clearly say we will never set foot in your business again or any of our friends as we were not even allowed to finish our paid drinks. Absolutely disgusting customer service and way to treat...
Read moreIt was about half one in the afternoon. I had on my new pair of prescription glasses and just had a haircut. The sun was shining, and it was my day off, so I thought I'd treat myself to a nonalcoholic beverage. I've been teetotal for a number of years, but I still enjoy the thought of sipping a cold lager on a hot day. They don't have any nonalcoholic drink on tap apart from soft drinks. I had a bottle of Days 0.0%, which tasted nice and made a welcome change to the usual Heineken 0%.
I started to get a bit peckish, so I ordered the hearty salad. That tasted nice.
The staff were all very pleasant.
I'm guessing the pub is part of a chain of pubs, but they had some background music playing, which is a key ingredient in maintaining a friendly local pub vibe, unlike some other places that feel more like a surgery waiting room.
All in all, I'd go again... though I doubt I'd go on a Friday or Saturday night. Can imagine it gets full of people...
