We went for Sunday lunch as a family of 4. We waited about 10 mins to be seated, despite prebooking a table, however it was very busy. Within 5 mins of sitting down we were asked 3 times by the same waitress if we were ready to order. We hadn't even had time to take our coats off and get our 2 7 year olds sat down before we were asked what drinks we wanted. On the third time, we felt obliged to make the order. When asked if we wanted sides with the Sunday dinner, I asked what it came with, to be told it's all on the menu. That's great if we had time to actually read the menus but unfortunately it was so rushed we didn't have a clue what we wanted. The food arrived in less than 5 mins of ordering. £85 spent and we were in just over 30mins. The food was lovely, and great portion sizes, but this was not a relaxing experience at all. We were again asked a number of times of we wanted anything else and when we asked for the bill it came straight away. Nothing like being rushed out. The whole experience was like we were on a conveyor belt, in and out and take your money. The staff are rushing around like they darent stand still for a second. Iv never seen tables be cleaned and reset so quickly. Again, this didn't give a relaxing atmosphere at all. Although the food was lovely, the atmosphere and service here is absolutely terrible. We won't...

Amended review!!!! Very nice place to eat. Reasonably priced. Hope it stays like that.

Well, above was my review from previous visit however I feel I need to update this after my Sunday lunch today!! Firstly, my lamb arrived swimming in dark brown beef gravy, which was so full of liquid it was spilling over onto the table and was impossible to put any veg on the plate without making a mess. Lamb should have lamb gravy, beef with beef gravy and so on and a little gravy yes with a gravy boat on the side but definitely not this swill that I was presented with today!!

Secondly, there was an elderly man who chewed constantly, walking between kitchen prep and bar area, dressed in a blazer, no apron, no gloves fingering foods with bare hands, throwing Yorkshire puddings onto plates along with other food stuffs! This is a breach of health and safety measures with serious food hygiene concerns!!!!!!.

Very very disappointing today. Unfortunately it was my birthday and my son took me here therefore I did not want to complain and spoil our day however I cannot let this go.

I will post photos of this swill served up...

I booked a table for my family who have come to visit from Devon, their favourite place to go was the oven so I thought it would be the same experience. We arrived at 4pm which was the time my table was booked for, it took 20 minuets for our table to be ready even though it was booked? We then sat down and ordered drinks, the man who was serving us was very polite and helpful, he then came back to take our food order, my partner asked for the trio of meats which then the waiter said we have no lamb left. This is our favourite meat and we were all ordering lamb. We then chose a different meat option and my mother in law ordered 2 cauliflower cheese, he then said we have none left. We decided to go somewhere else as this wasn’t an option for us, 2 main things on the menu had gone. I understand if you are busy things will run out but we should have been told as soon as we arrived. As we were leaving nobody came over to apologies or anything and we left. I have been here before and the food was lovely which is why I recommended it to my family but yesterday was disappointing and quite...

I was really looking forward to going here with my friend for a birthday treat. Absolutely stunning inside the decor is amazing, bright, cheerful and colourful. Our booking was for 12 noon and I was hankering after one of their wood fired pizza however, and very disappointingly, we were advised that this wasn't available for around an hour as it takes the pizza oven around this length of time to fire and heat up....so we move on and we order starters, mains (not pizza unfortunately) and a few cocktails which were really nice. I had specifically requested that my main did not include the roasted bone marrow tomato which our server made note of but it still managed to arrive despite my earlier request, the error was swiftly rectified. Overall a pleasant experience, food was okay and very eell presented but not much choice if you're a non meat eater. Would I go back......at this moment in time possibly not. 🤔

Beautiful new restaurant in Captain Cook Square, from the owner of 'Oven' on Linthorpe Rd. Looked at the menu online before I went as usual, but got there and it was different, no bother, asked for a diet pepsi lucky the waitress said it was pepsi max as she served it as I cannot have that, it was changed, the wait for food was quite long considering the restaurant was not at capacity, I'd ordered the lamb chops, they were delicious however for the price I expected maybe roasted carrots and not 3 roasted onions, quite disappointed with the dish. tasted my sisters dishes which were lovely, they ordered desserts also, the place is beautiful but feel for the price being charged it needs to up it's food. Pictures are swordfish, rack of lamb, cod loin, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate opera cake, and meringue and the ladies toilets.
