I love a surprise. What lured us in was street ad promoting lobster roles. We got there before opening so we peeked inside the window and saw a cool little bar and planned to come back later in the day. This was not what we expected in the best way possible. The menu is unique, especially compared with all the other menus we have seen around town that have the same pies, burgers etc. The biggest problem was deciding on what to have. My wife and I sat at the bar for about 3 hours before other family joined. Kyle, was entertaining and a great bartender. Make sure you ask for some "off menu" cocktails that are in his head. He made this Bourbon tea concoction that is absolutely dangerous, and inspiring. Kyle won an award at a cocktail competition for this one. I had a few of those. I have also never had a clear ( almost clear ) Espresso Martini before. Another surprise: they make a gin caviar. Seriously, so good. Along with the spicy margarita, and 30 some oysters and a couple of lobster rolls. We had an amazing time. Andy in the kitchen and Grace on the floor were wonderful as well. We are in St Andrews for 5 days, and I guarantee we will be rolling through a few more time. If you are a limited time in town, go here.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Boozy Brunch at Dune. From the moment I stepped in until the last sip of my drink, it was an elevated journey that left me thoroughly impressed. First off, the ambiance was inviting and sophisticated, setting the perfect tone for a leisurely weekend brunch. The menu offered an array of tantalising options, from classic favourites like eggs benedict and waffles to more adventurous choices like trout pastrami. No matter your palate, there's something for everyone. But what truly sets Dune apart is the expertly crafted drinks. The Bellinis were divine, with just the right balance of sweetness and fizz. And let's not forget about the Bloody Marys – they were perfectly spiced and garnished, a true treat for the senses. Throughout the meal, the service was attentive and friendly, ensuring that every need was met with a smile. Dean Banks and his team truly go above and beyond to create an unforgettable dining experience. If you're looking for a brunch spot that combines exquisite food, impeccable drinks, and stellar service, look no further than Dune. I'll definitely be returning, and I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a top-notch brunch experience

When you buy a lobster roll, there's a reasonable expectation that the bun will contain pieces of lobster as a filling, however the two lobster rolls I bought this evening for myself and my wife, didn't appear to have any lobster. In the lobster's place was minced fish. Any actual lobster was indiscernable, as the attached pics will hopefully show, and which bore no resemblance to the picture of a lobster roll from their website (attached for reference) . Had I not been 5 miles outside of St.Andrews when I opened the boxes, I would have returned them and requested a refund. I did call them just in case they had given me rolls with the wrong filling, but was told they mix the lobster with smoked fish. My response was, the lobster must have been missed out of the mix then. Do yourself a favour, and if you are tempted to but a lobster roll from here, either save your money and don't, or at the very least ask to see the roll before you part with your hard earned, as £13 for a minced fish roll is daylight robbery. UPDATE 15/07/25 - Credit where credit is due - Dune have issued me with a full refund today - which is genuinely appreciated. Many thanks Dune.

We visited early evening for drinks & booked a table (given 1hr 30min time slot). The bar wasn’t busy as still had empty tables where we were seated upstairs. After being seated it took 20minutes for the waitress to take our order & the drinks came very slowly. We sat with empty glasses for over 30minutes after only consuming only 1 drink & we decided it was unlikely we’d have time for another as our 1hr 30minute time slot was almost up. Seemed like the waitress was more interested in folding napkins than serving customers. Don’t know how this place will ever make money if it doesn’t take customers orders.

There was a bad atmosphere as the table next to us was also unhappy with the service & had to get up & find the waitress to ask for the bill. The bill was brought to the table around 10minutes later.

We decided to go down to the bar to pay as it was unlikely we’d get the bill anytime quickly from her. Upon asking for the bill, we explained the service was very slow & we were really disappointed we only managed to have time for 1 drink each. The bill was £30 for 2 drinks & they told us they’ve added a service charge on top of the bill. We told them you must be joking as we’re currently complaining about the service. Only time I’ve ever asked for a service charge to be removed.

I enjoyed my drink but my partner didn’t enjoy his which cost us £18.

The staff are very poorly trained & don’t seem to have any experience in customer service. I don’t mind paying over the odds for a theatrical drinks experience but I would advise to do it elsewhere as you may actually get drinks delivered to your table...

I feel there is false advertising. These aren't authentic lobster rolls. There's more fish than anything, which totally changes the flavor. Customers are being misled. The website, socials, outdoor menu, etc, say the ingredients are only lobster. But this is incorrect.

Don't go here expecting a "lobster roll" or you'll be massively disappointed like I was. Especially if you're American. I feel, either, the recipe or the item name needs to be changed. It was good for what it was, but I didn't want a smoked haddock roll.

I don't leave bad reviews usually and have always been a fan of Dean Banks (the owner) which is why it isn't 1 star. Supporting local, but this really let me down. All I could do was laugh about it, sharing the mishap with friends and family who understood my pain.

Call me a lobster roll snob, but if you lived in New England, you'd know how serious lobster is to us. I just feel bad for all the Brits and visitors being duped to thinking this is what a lobster roll is. I know I'm in Scotland, but as a paying customer, you expect to get what you paid for. You wouldn't buy a steak and be served pork loin.

The only other suggestion I have is to add the option to order a lobster only roll. (Which is really how it should be to begin with). I'd happily pay more for one.

With respect towards Dean, I also would happily visit again if any of the 3 suggestions I've made are taken into consideration. PS....
