The food and drink aren't anything particularly special, but the ambiance is absolutely luscious, and definitely the reason to come into and keep returning to this bar — there is dark wood panelling all through; warm, low lights which produce a candlelit effect even in the middle of a spring day, let alone on an autumn or winter night; a large island bar brimming with bottles and glasses glowing with gold, amber and inky liquids; and tables and chairs positioned so that several spots can end up seeming quite intimate even when the bar is busy, in little alcoves and with box wall partitions between them.
