Where do I begin?
Being a foodie myself and my other half also being the same, I knew Gurkha Fire was going to be a flavour bonanza from the start!
So, due to lack of Uber’s in the area, we were a little late! I was worried it was going to be busy, so I phoned to make them aware and the lady on the phone (cant remember the name!) was so sweet and kind and told me not to worry! A great sign for a newly opened place!
Even before entering the restaurant, the smells were (and Im not exaggerating here, INCREDIBLE). This was going to be good! Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the most friendly and genuinely kind staff I have seen in a long time! These people look like they do love their job! We were seated at our table and introduced to our waitress for the evening (again cannot remember her name, sorry 🥺) and, after grabbing some starters (Poppadoms with FRESH HOMEMADE SAUCES - The Fire Sauce is the way to go if you like spice! And the Mint and Coriander was refreshing and beautiful) and drinks for the evening, started to read through the menu.
The menu in itself requires its own section here! The extensive but not overwhelming options on the menu all sound superb! I wish my stomach could have fit more in! What makes this menu so special is the personal touches to it. It is not just a standard you get what you get menu. Oh no, this menu is filled with all little messages and descriptions that will make you chuckle and really make you feel like the food is not just normal food. The owner even came over and introduced himself and spoke to us about the menu! To have that personal touch and feel around the restaurant just helped with the accommodating experience! The menu was also filled with “Orange Boxed” Meals which were ones that they hope to encourage you to try and, all I will say is, you will NOT be disappointed if you try any of them!
We had to have a plethora, and that is what we did, ranging from the Mutton Katiya (a recommended) all the way to the Mixed Grill. We added some sides and cannot recommend the Palak Chaat enough!
My other half, who is not a man of eating anything off of the bone, but the smells and menu had tempted him to a mixed grill and, I will say now. The most beautiful meat ever grilled made its way onto his plate and, of course, into his mouth. The meat absolutely just fell off of the bone and, by the end of it, he was chewing away, trying to gain every bit of tender meat ever cooked. Even bits of chicken fell off of the bone as he picked it up! HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THAT?!
By the end of our mains we were already so full but dessert also had to be done! And to see the dessert menus with items from Local Businesses, it is clear this restaurant (and the people who run it) really do care about the community!
To finalise this review, I, again, want to praise all of the staff and Chefs within this restaurant, they were all so attentive and welcoming throughout this whole experience and, quite frankly, produced some of the most amazing meals I have ever had! However, I will say one thing to improve - THE CHEF NEEDS TO BOTTLE THE FIRE SAUCE - IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you all for an amazing experience and we will definitely be dining here again, COULD NOT...

Once again, the chefs and staff at Gurkha Fire have smashed it out of the park!
We came in, and the menu from the last time we had visited had changed. Not at all in a bad way (its what they do to keep things up to date, new and fresh - and it works well)
Of course, first was drinks. We chose their own Gurkha Fire Lager, a nice cold, crisp lager that is very much needed on a hot evening!
Then, onto the food!
We started off with Starters. A firm favourite of ours and a forever pick is Palak Chaat, Now, I cannot express this enough, even if you are a pure carnivore and pick one thing as a starter, a Palak Chaat is the way to go! We also experienced other new flavours on the menu, including the Fire Fries and Pani Puri (these are getting their own section below)
Now, this review has already been very long, so I will keep it short and sweet;
Fire Fries - They are currently trying out a new Dillnaise/Firenaise and OMG! ALL THE FLAVOUR OF THAT SPICY FIRE SAUCE IN A COOL MAYO ITS ACTUALLY CRAZY!
Pani Puri - So a bit of a different one but uses Tamarind Water and literally creates an explosion in your mouth! Has to be tried! I was hesitant at first, but im happy to be wrong in this case.
Onto the Mains!
I had a Biryani whilst my partner had the King Prawn Dilwala! Both delightful and flavourful as always! The Dilwala was saucy and so delicious whilst the Biriyani was also succulent and just full of flavour!
Of course, we also had the Chutney Tray with the Fire Sauce, another firm favourite if you like spice and garlic Naan, of course!
We couldn't manage dessert because we were so full. However, we always recommend one to top the meal off here! Always locally sourced and lovely!
Overall, this is ours. I've lost count of how many visits for this amazing place and, without trying to sound biased, it is our favourite place to eat within Medway. The vibes, the food, and the staff are always so lovely and everything...
Read moreWe went to this place for the first time. First of all the atmosphere is brilliant. Place was super clean. From the moment we enter till we come out from the restaurant, the service we received from the staff is phenomenal apart from tiny misinformation issues about the food.
I've got a biriyani, prawn dilwala, calamari, garlic chicken wings. The garlic chicken wings is an absolute banger. It tastes soo good. Chicken was fried and coated in the sauce to meet the ideal taste. However Biriyani, I've asked from the Waitress whether a single biriyani is enough for 2 people and she said it is more than enough. But the biriyani is way too small for 2 people and it is enough only for one person. And also I must say that it is not the best Biriyani I've tried around gillingham, chatham. There are few other places serves way better biryani than here. The calamari dish is too sweet. It would be better if it is spicy than sweet since the sweetness is cutting off the taste of calamari. I personally think that It will be better if they could replace the existing calamari starter with a "hot butter cuttlefish" dish.
Prawn dilwala is really good I must say. It is literally the butter chicken but with prawns apart from chicken. It was soo creamy and had a nice texture. But 14 pounds for that dish is not worth at all. Even Though the place is really good, I feel like almost all the dishes are overpriced when compares with the portion size. Apart from garlic chicken, all the other dishes are not good in portion size.
Overall the atmosphere is great, food I give a medium rating due to the portion size, price and taste but the presentation of the food when serve is top notch. Service from the service staff is brilliant. Even Though I didn't had a wow about the food, the owner and head chef both visited all the customers and greeted personally which I highly appreciate and quite...
