EDIT - changing this to 5 stars now (from 3 stars) as I've been a few times and had much better service, portion sizes and just generally lots of good ice cream with interesting flavours. La Gelatessa is doing a great job!
Previous review: Don't get me wrong, the ice cream is good. But the size of the scoops we had (on a cone) was small compared to other places in Glasgow, e.g. Nowita in Partick, Ginesi's on Victoria Road. Also the server offered the people in front of us a loyalty card but then didn't offer us one and gave us a bit of attitude when we asked for one, which was unnecessary, although she did give us one reluctantly. Also there is some inconsistency with the opening hours listed on Google Maps, I have tried several times to visit during the listed opening hours only to find the place closed with no sign or anything on the shutters. Hopefully the above are all teething issues and next time I visit I can update this review to a better one, as I said the ice cream itself was...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I took a trip to Glasgow this weekend and what can I say, we stumbled across this Gelato shop because she had a craving for a hot chocolate. We’d somewhat call ourselves hot chocolate connoisseurs but we well and truly had a socks blown off by how tasty, flavourful and thankfully HOT, the dark hot chocolate was. Of course we got the toasted fluff that was a perfect addition and didn’t overpower our tastebuds with sweetness. We sat in and the decor was cute and thoughtful. After we’d collected ourselves after our mind blowing hot chocolate we went back for the ice cream… My girlfriends lactose intolerant and thankfully they had vegan options, we got a litre tub of the salted chocolate orange and dark chocolate and cherry. We whisked ourselves home and “hmmm’d” and “ahhhh’d” after every spoonful. We’ll definitely be back for more yummy ice cream! Enjoy this windswept picture of my girlfriend who is beyond happy after her second...
Read moreHonestly best ice cream in Glasgow, maybe even Scotland...but slightly put off by the lady who jumped the line ahead of us on Sunday 18th June. First she came over from the back of the line to talk to the couple ahead of us, seemed like they were friends..then after that she turned back to us and said oh sorry we will go back to the line (we didn't ask her to, just assumed that's what any decent person would do anyway)...but hey she skipped right ahead of us. Very rude. Pretty sure I overheard her saying she was the owners mother in law, I am not sure if that gives her priority treatment when the rest of us are standing in sweltering heat waiting to be served. Also my partner thinks they've seen her in some tv show , again that doesn't make her better than the rest of us and give her the right to...
