Not even left the establishment yet but feel the need to start my review, absolutely impeccable service from the man who served me today, I’m new to the area and just wanted to pop in for a drink to start my ventures of looking my new favourite pub in the unfamiliar environment, he made me feel so welcome after I opted to sit outside with my pint he came out and found me sitting out the front and informed me they have a tent area round the left side of the restaurant out of the rain, and also starring some heated lamps under the tables, just what I needed on a rainy day ! He brought me over to the area found me a ash tray and got me seated, as he new I was only in for a couple drinks he asked if I found like to see the food menu for future reference of course I accepted. Looking at the extensive menu filled with good bunch deals and many vegan and vegetarian options it looked wonderful prices not overwhelming either, can’t comment on the food as I didn’t try anything today but absolutely will on my return in the future ! He informed me his shift was over but he hopes to see me soon and again welcomed me to the area. Top class costumer service in this place, not to mention the beautiful interior inside, will be coming...
Read moreWent for mother's day. The staff were nice when you could actually get hold of one. Although the boy who first served us was scratching his belly as he took our order.
Our starter came out fast enough but was very poor quality with stale bread and tasteless sauces that I could have made at home.
The main took two hours to get to us and my mum had a taxi booked to take her home so we were eating right down to the wire as her taxi arrived. They did give us free shots for our trouble but that wasn't quite appropriate for a family table with a minor and my older mother. I ended up having to have 3 of the 6 shots.
The staff are nice people and I understand that mother's day is stressful but it seemed like not many people were eating yet our order was forgotten about. I also had to clear my own table twice as no one came by to get the plates or glasses. Anyways I definitely won't be back for food. I honestly don't think they should have a kitchen as their chef is pretty bad . Also the staff need to get better at working under pressure. I know it's a hard job but the standard elsewhere is way higher.
Probably fine for getting a drink but...
Read moreFriendly service but food is bland and over priced.
Went for a £5.50 caramelized onion hummus starter. I got x1 microwaved tortilla with a ramekin of tastless shop bought hummus.
My main, the £13 Vegan Katsu Curry was made with ready made chinese curry sauce, the kind you buy in the supermarket or get in a chippy! Add some mushrooms and boiled rice, £13 please. You can get tasty authentic home made Chana Paneer in Ranjits Kitchen up the road for half the price.
A friend went for £13 Chicken in Satay Sauce. 3 small pieces of chicken in a bland sauce with boil in the bag rice, mmm!
Gluten free friend went for a Chicken Salad. She left most of it as it was drowning in mayonnaise, which she doesn't like. Nice waitress apologised but left it at that.
The food in the Stag & Thistle is not worth the money. They have 3 different menus, with dozens of choices however I have no interest in eating here again. There's much better food options nearby that offer better quality food and more...
