This Bar has changed hands yet again! Now it's a Tapas bar/restaurant. I've always found Tapas to be pricey for what you get but this was reasonably ok. And the quality of the food was very good. Disappointed that they had run out of bread so couldn't have my balsamic dip, and it took them over 20 minutes to inform me if this! On ordering another glass of Sav' I was notified that they had run out of that too! Surely they check their stock at the start of every day? Apparently not! Service was extremely slow even though the bar was only half full at that time (it did get busier) and with 4 staff on the floor it should not have taken over 10 minutes to get 3 cold drinks. Having said that, the staff very really lovely and friendly. The decor artwork/ tableware are all mismatched and pre-loved which is not a bad thing in a time when we are all being encouraged to be a bit more aware of what we really shouldn't be sending to landfill just because we don't want it anymore. But the aesthetic of this just didn't gel for me. It seemed as though they just couldn't decide on a look and were still trying to work it out. Please bear in mind this is only my personal opinion, and the only reason I only gave 3 stars on this occasion was because of the slow service and poor stock taking! If you are someone who has difficulty walking or have wheels there is a ramp to go down into the bar but your seating options would be limited as this bar is on 2 levels and the top level is via steep stairs. So perhaps phone ahead a book a table on the lower level. There is only one toilet but it is perfectly assessable. Would I visit again? Yes, hopefully next time they will have bread and my...
Read moreWe hired Lola’s Bar (Northampton) on 28/09/2025 for a couple of hours on the morning after our wedding. We wanted to hire a chilled fun space so our guests (approx 50) could gather and drop by for some hot drinks and home baked pastries.
Bogdan at Lola’s Bar helped us arrange this gathering, he was friendly, communicative, efficient and helpful during the booking process and all the way up to the day itself. The cost to hire the venue on a day they don’t open was also very reasonable (and for the experience we had was worth every penny).
On the day itself Karina and Lola were our hosts, they did an amazing job catering for our guests (of whom we didn't expect all to turn up at the same time) - they managed this very well as it must have been a daunting task. Both Lola and Karina were friendly and smiley while faced with so many people.
The pastries were great and went down very well with our guests who clearly needed the sugary pick me up’s. It was also just lovely to see our friends and family from the night before all chatting and reminiscing about the wedding party and of course nursing hangovers.
All in all from first contact to saying goodbye Bogdan, Lola and Karina were a joy and made everything very easy.
We’ll be returning for some...
Read moreWent pre-show at the Derngate Theatre, and on the basis Lola’s is adjoined to the theatre, assume they are used to and plan for pre/theatre trade. We were placed on a small table crammed into the corner of the upper tier of the dining area. Took a long time to be served initial drinks, and then couldn’t order food as no menus on the table… eventually having nearly had to walk out, food arrived 50 minutes after sitting down. No mention of the delay, or pleasant service in any way. Had to walk back to the bar to order drinks as no attention at the table. Surprising it takes so long as the food is largely deep fried, rustic portions. As a consequence, had to rush to eat in 5 minutes and leave. Fried chicken was fine, padron peppers lovely, aubergine was drenched in oil and needed blotting, croquettes were ok. All in all, a disappointing experience and one we wouldn’t recommend pre theatre. Clearly Lolas is trying to maximise the number of covers - and over selling the dining space based on what can be...
