Second time trying Pommy's, first time was awesome but it wasn't a full buffet as it was during more severe lockdown rules whereas we had to settle for table service. The food and the service we received back then, however, brought us back to experience it in full, so now I can review in full!
Greeted by the host as soon as we walked in, straight to a table and drinks ordered. As soon as we ordered our drinks, we were free to get up and go to the buffet. That's what you want when you go out for food, minimal time to wait between smelling the food, and getting to eat it!
It was a busy night with it being Valentine's, their was also a birthday party happening at the back of the restaurant. Despite this, we still received the same service we got back when it was quieter and the staff weren't quite so stretched. Didn't have to wait long for plates to be cleared, asked if we wanted more drinks as soon as we'd finished what we had and the guys cooking on the grill helped fill my plate as full as possible.
Don't leave without getting a taste of their flame grilled steaks and the freshly baked pizzas on offer. The pizza especially surprised me, there's dedicated pizza takeaways in this town that wouldn't even touch the pizza Pommy's are making. Lamb bhuna melted in the mouth, the Chinese food on offer was spot on considering it's not a Chinese restaurant and most importantly for any buffet, the pakora was on point.
All that grub and a few drinks each and it was cheaper than what we'd pay at somewhere like Beijing Banquet or Cosmo and the food was better than BB and pretty damn close to Cosmo (they have you beat purely on quantity/range of selection, don't take it personal!) I'd rather save some money and spend...
Read moreWe had the buffet, drinks arrived quickly which was a good start. The starters were promising, pakora quite dry. As we went round to try the other dishes many things had not been topped up (and we waited around to see if it would but to no avail). Would avoid if you have allergies as there were rogue mussels in various dishes, ones that would have been veggie friendly otherwise. The Indian and Chinese dishes were edible but expected a lot better - dry meat, sauces that were extremely bitter and a few that tasted like heinz tomato sauce. Live cooking wasn't on despite being advertised online -would have been nice to see what that was about since I was struggling to get something nice from the rest of the buffet. The bottomless drinks tasted like the syrup was running out, hopefully just a mistake in it not being changed rather that trying to convert us all into soda lovers. The desserts were promising if you like chocolate (I do not). Lots of British classic snacks, tunnocks teacakes and such. Chocolate fountain was a novelty people seemed to be enjoying but it was spitting when I went to get dessert, molten chocolate on your skin is very hot. The spoons and tongs were all very hot as well, got burned a few times. The lids of the dishes were quite dirty, I didn't go back for the dishes I did enjoy due to not wanting to get lid gunk on my hands while eating. The redeeming features were the Kebab meat and our server (young female) who was a star but looked like she was carrying the whole shift. Spend the £45 and get a...
Read moreFirst ever worst experience at a world buffet. Attended on 14 of January 2022, around 12 o'clock there was only myself and family no others in. The lack of choice of food was terrible and secondly the presentation of the food and quality was horrible most the plates where wasted due to the food being really Luke warm basically almost cold and the salad option was basically almost going off the tomatoes where almost rotten away. We paid £33 odds for 2 adults and child under 3 due to 3 plates of waste and refill drinks what I think is shocking as the food was horrible and that's why there was waste. There is isn't much option and not worth the value. Will not recommend to friends or family or anyone to go as for a none busy I would expect the food to be hot no matter on time of day. I'm really disappointed with how much food was there to choice as there was hardly anything at all it like a hand full of bit and bobs but not at all what I expect when I go into these establishment I don't not expect fine dinning but I do expect to get hot warm food with more choice or more quantity of food also the nan bred was all dry and stale the list could go on. Worst experience I've had at any buffet ever, Will not be...
