Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Scotland

I know this only says it's 'OK' but that's because I really mean it's ok,.not bad. The staff who served me were ok, not as welcoming as Costa in the Kirkcaldy retail park but not at all unwelcoming. The lady who informed me of the impending two minutes silence was excellent. I guess that's the margins, open, obviously welcoming and positive always wins. Kirkcaldy has an abundance of coffee shops and charity shops, little in the way of places I'd go to but Costa is my normal coffee shop of choice so in I went. Tables were cleaned quickly, there are plenty of seats available, but the place wasn't empty by any means. In terms of what it is like decor wise it's the same as most Costas. Unfortunately Kirkcaldy town centre isn't the most appealing currently, although the council are spending money, and the former shopping centre will become low cost housing for c.a. 300 housing units. I can't see me going there specifically to attend Costas. If I do, then I might go there again but as I said many other...

Staff while friendly start off with a "sit in or takeaway" question rather than a hello or anything else which is a bit odd.

The glasses that Costa use for coffees are actually very uncomfortable to hold and this is a nationwide Costa issue. They're also incredibly heavy.

A few lights were broken / failing and therefore the store was pretty dim inside.

Also not sure of the policy but allowing dogs inside is strange. Not talking service dogs here, just Joe blogs dogs. As they walked out the dog put it's head on two other customers tables probably trying to have a quick look what's there but clearly the customers didn't appreciate or like it. I love Kirkcaldy High St's Costa Coffee House. The Staff work so hard in all areas, they go all out to create a warm friendly social atmosphere. They show interest in everybody, know many by name, and their favourite drink n food preferences. That speaks volumes considering the amount of customers frequent the place. I go there to meet with friends, or work alone on my writing. The Costa Coffee House is a definite positive asset to our High St....
